But im asking myself for what we need those..

i mean.. the retainer npc standing all the time in their market areas like zombies, and no one is visiting them anymore.. all people are buying the stuff via the npc directly which almost work like an AH.

do you enjoy walking through masses of zombies ? i dont get the point.


so why are retainers still there? for what? And i dont like the catagories either... an auction house with sections like "weapons" etc. would be just so much more comfortable and enjoyable.. especially for those who are coming from other MMorpgs-


i loved to shop in FFXI i dislike to sell and buy stuff in FFXIV.. thats for sure.

I also really like the anonymity the retainers provide, as their name appears in the history, not the player's name.

This is about the only good thing I can think of for retainers, I think the anonymitty is awesome, or just being able to name what you like. However, easily handled by the mail system + 1 mule, which however will cost a extra character slot. Mules for storage are not uncommon at all however, the extra fee is about the only disadvantage. Making the retainer a mule like Pooky said could be an option /shrug.

Majority of people do not browse retainer wards, you cant see all retainers, there's so many, takes so much time to find what you like.

Bid & B/O (buyout) system works well for those w/o lot of gil. I personally prefer b/o of course, but sometimes bidding nets you an item @ much lower price, it's just a suggestion tho. But seriously this ward/retainer issue is so much extra time spent that could be spent fixing other areas of game.

Seriously like someone said... you guys who LOVE this system, take your retainer out Uldah and start putting them in Grid wards.. then come back and talk.. Until then you rly shouldnt talk.

Which is what a lot of people already do, you can even get better deals outside of Uldah at times.

Would there be a problem if people were able to place their retainer anywhere on the field besides the darn market wards?
- I would like this done, as long as there's a barrier to where you cant place them(etc. in front of entrances, trails, aetherytes, NPCs...)

besides, servers don't get congested with retainer data inside the markets? Spread them out!

FFxi had mules basaaring the streets and anywhere they felt like it. What was forgotten was a nice bulletin board listing the bazaars in the area and their wares on sale. That would be a cool little feature!

Do you have retainers up in a different city? Just curious. If not, your statement fails. And auction houses are in use in games other than ffxi. And even in ffxi they were still segregated by city. Jueno AH, Sandy AH, etc.

Retainers are linked to player accounts, which makes them simple to manage from an administrative point of view. Suspending or terminating an account removes that person's retainers as well.

Once a retainer's bazzar is empty, it's removed from a ward. Unfortunately people stick stuff for a billion gil in their retainer's bazzar insuring they don't go anywhere. I'd suggest a 1% tax per real day for items 100,000 gil and above.

As long as they make it to where you can search for an item and it finds it across all retainers, regardless what city it's in, it really shouldn't be a huge deal. They said there will be a way to filter out HQ items too, so hopefully all will be ok.
