Honestly I think it's just being unable to communicate specific things like strategy or distribution (which is why we need something along the lines of "I have completed this before" or "I know the strategy" or "I know what to do" in auto-translate).

The first time I was told in pt that i would have to leave cause the party was JP only, an english-speaking jp player translated the distribution rules for us and after that everything was perfectly fine. I haven't run into any problems at all with most groups if I take the initiative such as auto-translating <I want:> and then the item name or <Disciple of Magic> <pants> or things like that.

I have joined a party that didn't have JP only in the recruit message, only to get kicked immediately when I said I didn't speak Japanese. I doubt that attitude is widespread though. To quote my JP ls member, "That person might be an asshole"

Here's a suggestion, JP players normally that shout in Japanese without the translate function typically only want Japanese speaking players. If they use the translate function in the shout, usually means all are welcomed.

I have a ok understanding of the language, not great but I've yet to get turned down because I myself am not Japanese, so it's not racism. This is the behavior on Ridill, I can't speak for your or the other servers though.

If you truly want to avoid "JP only" start your own groups.

Dub's right, it's actually a problem with our server. I've been kicked out of pt's after invite because I don't speak Japanese...

This game is not WoW; if you want WoW, go play WoW. If you get butthurt when people mention Final Fantasy XI, then shut up about WoW.

When the majority of shouts you see, from NA players, consists of <hyur> <fun> <hole> <can I have it?>, do you honestly not wonder why the JP stopped bothering with it beyond localization reasons? It's well known the localization between languages for certain things is why it's not heavily used.

Also, JP only generally deals with "Japanese Language Only", I haven't seen anyone who attempts to communicate with them get kicked, it's the ones who try to join JP shouts and tell them to speak english are the ones who get kicked, btw, NA players are far worse with their "kicking/declining".
I don't think you understand what the word majority means,

Is it so hard to understand that JP people want to play with other JP people because it's brutally difficult to discuss strategy with auto-translate? auto-translate is almost useless, you do a better job with google translate.

I've seen NA parties kick people for anything from being a new player to someone dying for x reason, so it's not localized to the JP
What's with the hate towards NA? When a party kicks you for those reason, do you quickly ask "wait, before you kick me... what continent are you from?"

NA isn't the only english speaking continent in the world. Also, this isn't about languages being used, it's about people not using the tools they have available to them to allow their fellow players to play too, regardless of langauge. Of course anyone can do whatever they want, but there is a thing called consideration.

I for one have seen many english speaking parties switch leaders to the one bilingual person in the group just so they can have more chances at filling a party.

NA is the biggest player base since generally when you think of MMO communities you think of either the eastern asian or the NA playerbases. NA/EU are essentially the same thing as both mostly speak English.

it's about people not using the tools they have available to them to allow their fellow players to play too.
Said tool is pretty damn bad due to the game's localization being weird between languages. What the JP think they're sending over may not exactly be the same thing someone playing in English or German would be getting. This is why JP players rarely use it, because of localization and it's still fairly limited in use.

I agree JP onry sucks. But typically the type of JP ppl that do that I wouldn't wanna play with anyways.

Just out of curiosity I have a question. If your complaining about this and saying it needs to stop, wouldn't it be better to put this on the JP side as opposed to the NA side?

Hmm..odd..because anytime I end up in a party with a NA leader and non-NA members, we use auto translate to communicate just fine....and they understand what we mean most of the time. Why will they not at least TRY to communicate with us?

Granted, I have had a party where someone did use google translate to communicate with me and it was in broken English, of course, but the key points were there. THAT I'm ok with. Just kicking me because you don't want to deal with a different culture in a multicultural game is not cool.

It's just more convenient. Don't take it personal man. What you can say in auto translate is extremely limited compared to what they can express to someone who understands their language.
