being honest if your 250 is still running the game well right now i would offer one piece of advice. stay with it for just a bit and wait for a short time before upgrading. with the 600 series cards out the price on the 500 series cards will start dropping the closer we get to the holidays. i have the 580 cod factory overclocked edition and this card is a complete beast.

i guess it's more of why spend the amount now for a card when you could get a much better card for the same amount of cash in just a few months? if it's running fine now just hold off on the upgrade because the game will be going down soon for beta anyways and may as well get a better card for the same amount you will be spending now while it's down and be ready to put it to use once it comes back up.

It comes with Borderlands 2 for free also, so if you also had that planned to buy, it'll save ya $60. Just a thought, it really is a fantastic card.

Also worth noting, a PCI E 3.0 card works fine on a 2.0 slot. The loss in framerate is at most like, 1 fps.
My family's computer has a GeForce 260 GTX, and I've been trying to get my dad to take the hood off the computer box's casing to see if the graphics card is removable. I also told my dad that a new card (I would like him to get the 660 Ti) so that he can play Arkham Asylum (he's a huge Batman fan, lol) with good performance and graphics. I mean, the 260 GTX is good, it's just not DirectX 11 hardware-based.

    ** It's for a PCI-E 2.0 slot
Pairing up a Radeon with an AMD cpu is just a gimmick to get you to buy from one company.

    All versions above PCI-E 2.0 are backwards compatible. A 2.1 , or 3.0, PCI-E card will work on a 2.0 slot.

ALL PCI-E are backwards compatible, a PCI-e 3.0 card WILL work in a normal PCI-E x16 slot but the data bandwidth will be alot lower and limit the card.

That's very true, I suppose Black Friday is only a couple of months away, I could probably score really big if I wait till then.

Prices on the 500 series is droping since they came out with the 600. If your looking to spend a reasonable amount get a 570 or you want the best get a 670 or 680.

I have a 570 myself and I don't think its that much of a improvement over a 250. You might be disappointed with the results.

that was my line of thinking. right now on your budget you could get a card now, but by then you could probably at least get one series higher of a card for the same amount. if nothing else you could get the name brand of the series of card you are looking at now for that price with a much better warranty.

for example for the nvidia series cards i would never own anything other than evga even though it's a little more expensive. after the 260 i originally had in my computer fried from doing folding and the manufacturer refused to honor the warranty i looked into it more. i went with evga and got it's optional return warranty. i went through 2 more cards in the few years that followed and whenever i burnt out one card i called them and they had the replacement shipped to me and i packed up the old card and sent it back in the same box. after that service i will never own another manufacturer on my cards.

lol 2.1-3.0 doesnt matter they all work on 2.0 pci express slots. and every board including older ones for sure have 1-4 pci express slots.

your biggest question is wether or not your pc has the proper power supply to support a stronger video card.

Also, do not get factory overclocked. This causes instability in the card makes games crash. If your going to overclock get one that isn't factory overclocked and do it yourself.
