We'll find out when SE runs out of $$ from the XIV box sales. Currently there is no recurring revenue stream, and I'm pretty sure that even though SE says they are devoted to this game, they are most likely running on the funds from box sales. Once those run out, SE has three options. Start charging for the game and see who sticks around, continue to fund and support a game that is currently operating in a negative cash flow, or cut their losses and shut the servers down.
