should i link you to 7000 posts complaining about animation lock in primal battles? then should i explain to you why the animation lock is proving to be a problem for them?
the bottom line is- if you want to keep that, you value your pretty chatroom over a game world which actually works correctly; over a game world which allows developers to deliver content which actually works correctly.
i could get into which of us looks more ignorant by industry standards and back it up my position with numbers, but you seem to be the kind of guy who just wants to have his opinion one way or another and won't have his mind changed regardless. so what's the point?
the most fluid gameplay allowing devs and players the most room for specific kinds of play lending to specific kinds of content does not allow for the most realistic animations possible. the most realistic animations possible do not realistically allow for the most fluid gameplay allowing devs and players the most room for specific kinds of play lending to specific kinds of content.
i can provide examples of MMOs that emphasized movement and gameplay over hyper realistic animations and physics that were successful. can you provide examples of MMOs that emphasized hyper realistic animations and physics over movement and gameplay that were successful?
can you provide examples of MMOs that provided both? and were they successful?
unless you could do this, look in the mirror before attempting to hang the mantle of ignorance on another.
You're shooting in the wrong direction, Tex. I'm calling your statements about my supposed stance on game development ignorant, that's it. Not once did I bring up anything to do with sales or other games.the most fluid gameplay allowing devs and players the most room for specific kinds of play lending to specific kinds of content does not allow for the most realistic animations possible. the most realistic animations possible do not realistically allow for the most fluid gameplay allowing devs and players the most room for specific kinds of play lending to specific kinds of content.

Animation lock shouldn't be an excuse for garish and ugly animations (again, I don't personally have a problem with them on the video). TERA had terrible animation lock issues, and the animations were ugly in it.should i link you to 7000 posts complaining about animation lock in primal battles? then should i explain to you why the animation lock is proving to be a problem for them?

you must have been playing warhammer online and confused it for tera or something, because tera is beautifully animated. also, another awful example- animation lock in tera is fully intended due to the specific way combat works in the game. no other MMO has combat like it.
i don't think you've actually played it.
I have played it. Half of the reason the combat felt so slow paced (in an action MMO might I add) was because you were horribly grounded for half of your abilities, and Animation lock made lancer a very ineffectual tank for a lot of high level BAMs.you must have been playing warhammer online and confused it for tera or something, because tera is beautifully animated. also, another awful example- animation lock in tera is fully intended due to the specific way combat works in the game. no other MMO has combat like it.

And yeah, let's not get into the whole "Tera has beautiful animations" thing, that's enough of a joke as it is. Half of your torso would swing a sword whilst your legs walked in place.
