I doubt this is the problem. SquareEnix has come a long way since released and made this game bearable. To say bad planning and bad programming is foretelling the future of 2.0 is not giving them ANY credit what so ever. Im sure they did what they did for a reason and in my opinion ...

- High drop rates will just get people their gear and never make them run it again.

Making something difficult and giving it low drop rates actually makes people want to keep going and trying, instead of having everything just given to you. If you look at a lot of new MMO's compared to old ones, you are left with the same problem ... everything is just too easy to get. Though I hate to use this analogy but its probably the best one ... Why do you think people always complain that they love Old World of Warcraft compared to the Newer expansions .. cause content was an actual challenge.

Now I am new to this game and I don't know much, this isn't a ill gesture remark to anyone who downgrades the game. Its just food for thought. Cheers.
