Not going to bother to speculate since it is pointless as SE will just do it their way in the end anyway...(which is fine) but I for one look forward to PVP. I hope it is balanced and fun Balance is the most important thing in PVP...JMO.

arena ones are fine with me

you can blist a person all you want, but doesn't mean that you cant hear what they say or not have them harrass you verbally in game about it. (No one has corrected me on this if I'm wrong tell me so please) People can be like that. I myself am not fond of pvp so I won't be doing it so why should I have to automatically set something to auto decline when I just want to play a game and have fun?

PvP will never be balanced, in fact in this game it will be sooooo unbalanced because of materia it's not even funny. Triple melded neckbeardies will completely dominate pvp, it won't even be a matter of skill. But that's fine, if I had that much time to invest in this game, I'd want to show off too.

Like i said in my other post that wont effect the normal game cause of this. Release of PvP-specific abilities, gear, and ranking. What that means we will have pvp stats and such so normal gear wont be a factor.

I'm fairly certain that's exactly how /blist works. You don't hear anything they say, ever. Shout, say, tell, linkshell, it blocks all text inputted on their end from reaching you.

However.... now that I think about it. I may be swayed towards allowing open world dueling as long as they put in guide lines like it has to be someone within a couple of levels as you and you can't change jobs once it's accepted. *shrugs* though i still don't want it there

I'm pretty sure they ruled out open world PvP a long time ago. They said something along the lines of being a focused PvE game with PvP content. Meaning they will have areas for PvP and special matches and maybe an arena but never open world PvP.

yeah that was pretty much what the dev said it wasn't going to be implimented at this time or even when 2.0 is launched. I'm saying if they do decide to do it (meaning open world dueling), even if I don't want it done, then there should be guide lines because face it we don't want to see stuff happen like what South Park made fun of in that episode where they were making fun of WOW.

I agree with you..on all aspects. Lol I was thinking the same thing when reading this thread, "the people against this must really suck at pvp." I remember in FFXI people were TERRIFIED of PVP (not saying EVERYONE but most of the people I asked about it). I always fail at pvp when I first try it..but then quickly pick up on the game mechanics and how to set macro bar to win, etc. Its just some simple trial and error...and being able to play the KB with both hands at once to be fast as possible.

IDK why people are so afraid of PVP...I guess in PVE their ego is not as damaged because if defeated, it was done so by an AI instead of one of their peers. Not speaking about everyone..just an observation I guess.

And yeh it sucks that the odds of things being balanced are low...L2 PVP was somewhat balanced...I managed to be able to win (eventually, took a while) on any class I played (without super enchanted stuff) just was a matter of learning how the class worked inside and out. Even in fighting games none of the characters are balanced...there will always be exploits and "unfair" advantages. Just have to understand how it all works and use it to your advantage.

But really people...if you don't want to PVP...DONT! No one is forcing you to go to the designated areas for it, and SE will most likely give you the option to auto decline duels if implemented. I'm sure they will be very picky and careful with how this is implemented..if ever.

I have a question for you guys. Why think that everyone who is against PVP sucks at it. I for one have never had any real desire to do any PVP. I myself had never said it shouldn't be in the game just against the fact of open world dueling (which is open world pvp that you have the ability to decline). I don't care if they have pvp in certain areas for the people who want it. Also if they do do the open world dueling then I'll agree with certain guidelines.

Just because a person is against the idea of something doesn't equate to them being bad at it. Many people have many different reasons for why they don't do it or don't like it. Respect it please.
