Devs add a feature that many other people want. Do you: C) troll about it
Unless you're not actually being sarcastic and are just extremely, extremely animated. In which case, disregard.

Go sit on your hands if you have nothing useful to say.No, not "need", but very useful. I used to use a single-option /nominate but half the time nobody knew how to /vote and if not everyone responded, you had no way to know who wouldn't vote.
It helps party leaders make sure nobody is AFK. It helps make sure party leaders don't miss your "AFK 1m" message and assume you're there when everyone else /'s. What's wrong with that? If you don't want to use it and would rather ask for /'s then nothing's stopping you.
If anyone can offer a valid reason why SE shouldn't implement this that doesn't have to do with team resource management or a "we got along fine without it before" attitude, I'm all ears.
I have an addendum to this-A ready check system is always a great thing to have so that it's easier to know when your fellow party members have returned from a break or when to engage Garuda. Since it's such a helpful feature we will be implementing a ready check system in 2.0. Although it might not be ready at launch, it will be added for sure!
Sometimes a ready state is something that needs to be performed suddenly.
One such example is in Cutter's cry, where some targets far from each other need to be killed at the same time.
Perhaps the ready feature could be capable of satisfying this functon, or alternately, the /countdown feature could be modified to function no matter how far teammates are from each other?
And why shouldn't we question the resource management of the Dev team creating a Ready Check?Go sit on your hands if you have nothing useful to say.No, not "need", but very useful. EDIT: And may I sit on your hands instead? ^^
It is not a bad feature but it can get very very very annoying. Especially if it is a popup on your screen you have to click.
I want an option to disable ready check.... that crap spamming in the middle of your screen every single pull in a dungeon is horribly annoying in other mmos.
It can be abused but i really don't think we have a dbay community who would do that really it doesn't happen in those other games so i doubt it would happen like that in this game.It is not a bad feature but it can get very very very annoying. OMG THE CUTENESS
Please realize that FF14 is doing everything in its power to "make the transition from WoW to FF14 an easy one".
Do not expect any special aspects of the FF community to be permanent after 2.0 hits.
Shout chat will soon look like barrens chat and any annoying feature that can be abused by morons will be.
Well hopefully people don't abuse these systems but sometimes you do run into a jerk who does just ignore them, I for one believe that our community won't start doing those kind of thingsPlease realize that FF14 is doing everything in its power to "make the transition from WoW to FF14 an easy one".

OMG THE CUTENESS
It all depends on the mechanics of the game and whether they are a barrier to entry for immature players and whether reputation matters, but with a content finder im not sure reputation is going to matter much.
