I think people are overestimating the "roaming" portion of the Roaming Primals system. I really don't think it means they will be roaming all over different zones, just that they will be in the open world.
I believe that Ifrit will "roam" areas of Zahar'ak, where his tribe is. You'd have to fight through Zahar'ak, and maybe try to claim Ifrit while surrounded by enemies, at which point your whole party would be "Drawn in" to the Bowl of Embers.
OR, the Bowl of Embers area will become available as an actual area, where Ifrit will be roaming around, and you'll have to claim him there, at which point you enter the actual instanced version of the fight.
I'm ok with this. Contrary to what Rokien says to lie to himself, lag WILL still exist in some form in 2.0. And because having too many characters on your screen lagging you down is more PC than network, it WILL be a problem if too many people come to watch the fight.
"You know you can turn off the number of characters displayed". Yea, because changing my settings during every fight should be a requirement to prevent other people from getting me killed.
Keep the claim open world, keep the fight instanced. I like the track you're on Yoshida.
Well they did say that ifrit can spawn "anywhere". I doubt that they meant anywhere in a small area.
You know you can turn down the number of characters displayed? If your computer can't handle it what else do you want to be said? lol! Get a better computer then? My computer will probably be able to display max models just fine for example. So no, it actually won't be a problem, just for some people.I'm ok with this. "Anywhere within a prescribed and reasonable set of areas not including towns and other non-combat areas" was just too wordy, so they went with "anywhere".
It was one of the very first MMOs, it also also 100% open-world. It had a harsh death penalty, too. Actually, it even had dynamic fauna
I have to say that as many fond memories I have about it, it sucked. Those points I just mentioned sucked hard, anything and everything you did suffered very harsh inteference from other players that just wanted to be asses, you were so afraid to use your good gear anywhere, anytime, because you could loose it that you pretty much did not have it. And hell, they removed the dynamic fauna thing because of the unexpected side-effect it had of causing the entire fauna and flora of the game to die because players wanted to go out and ANNIHILATE EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE.
