I haven't seen any real fighting over same sex marriages just discussions. And most of them are saying to allow the same sex marriage not to disallow it

A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
Name something cultural that hasn't become political recently...
Since the 1970s, politics has increasingly become the battle ground for what are actually wars over culture -- at least in the US.
If you are a company who desperately needs general appeal for your product, the last thing you will want to do is to to fling themselves middle of a hot-button issue - especially when you don't have to.
Stay away from marriage completely (as an official part of the game) -- Trust me, SE will lose either way if they add it.
Anyone who says otherwise is pushing an agenda.

I must agree with Rannie, there hasn't really been any fighting, simply people stating that they think there should be no discrimination on the matter. We have all managed not to get into an internet-screaming fight over this matter (shocking isn't it...) and to simply state our own opinion.
@Mirage Actually that sounds like a good idea. I'm not 100% against shared housing, I simply saw that perhaps annoying problems might arise from it, though I do like your idea on the matter.
@zantetsuken
Well in that case, have them add an "instance" where people could have a fancy-looking environment, add gear that looks classy and rings that look pretty, and let people share houses (for whatever reason they want, that is), but don't actually implement "marriage". The various communities in the game could arrange their own events of whatever they want in these instances, and call it whatever they want. If they want to call it marriage, a marriage it is! SE could just stay out of what people actually use it for and not officially sanction any sort of marriages.
You could pay for using something like what would be like a nice area in the "city hall" of either of the cities, and this area would be usable for anything, not just partnership ceremonies, but also other community driven events. Each group would get their own instance as needed, so there wouldn't be any queues.
That way, people who don't want to recognize same-sex weddings are free to not recognize it, and SE wouldn't be pushing it on them because they don't officially sanction weddings (or other ceremonies) of any type.
Surely, this must be a solution both for and againsters could accept?

Ohhhh very nice idea there Mirage. It's a very happy medium for everyone.

Yeah, I think so. And I have more ideas too!
SE could add various areas reminiscent of certain very pretty areas from past games. What about a community event "map" that was like the endless flower field from Final Fantasy 8? If i were to hold a community partnership event, I would love to hold one there.
That does of course not have to be the only area available. Lots of areas could be added. They should perhaps not directly reference the other games, but be clearly inspired by them.
We could have buildings in the various cities that could be called "Cityname Community House", and upon renting an area there, you could pay lalafell mages to conjure up these fancy looking environments in there. What if you could book a FF5-like pirate's cave in Limsa Lominsa? The flower field could be available in gridania, and i've run out of ideas for other areas now but I'm sure you guys or SE could come up with several more areas for each city.
lol @ a simple game request turning into a complete fiasco.
nah crisis averted we're all civil here and are trying to respect the other people's ideas and thoughts...
@Mirage, I also heard the area in FFXI Lufase (sp) meadows was also a beautiful area. Sadly I never got to see it because I quit before I could finish all of the prereqs but something like that may be an option or even something grand like i know there's more areas that are beautiful I just can't think of them off the top of my head lol my mind's numb and I keep getting called for breakfast.

lol the agenda finger-pointing certainly gave me a chuckle
Mirage your idea is interesting... but what if folks want to have theirweddingnon-specified gathering at some spot they think is really beautiful out in .. maybe Coerthas or something?
I wonder how difficult it would be to instance certain map coordinates at a specified time.
Will You Marry Me Camate? :3
