nope hell no. don't want to be restricted for the rest of my life (in game) and real life
I really hope the system makes a return, I've always regretted not having the chance to marry my husband in FFXI. We share the same last name in FFXIV but it would be nice to have a proper ceremony and some sort of benefit along with it.
Also the opaline dress was so pretty, I hope they come back too.

I'm with you. My fiance and myself also share the same surname and since they already hinted that 'special rings' would be reserved for our other finger slot ...it's possible.I really hope the system makes a return, I've always regretted not having the chance to marry my husband in FFXI. It gives me hope after seeing the new race specific gear and the Vanya robe that SE is moving away from recolouring the same meshes and will give us something truly worthy of ceremony (sorry I thought opaline was kinda lazy)
About discrimination... I wonder if inter racial couples would be a feature since we are going to get female/males versions of all... I mean a Roe x Lala combo! o.o
I would actually like to see a 'divorce' quest ... it should be tedious and costly *chuckles* Also it'll make people think twice about getting married in game in the first place ha!
Most of all... they need to set the system up right. They made a rainbow over the Crag the next clear day each time a person became a SMN in FFXI, why not have the peal of bells in town and confetti fall down when someone gets married in town?
If they set it up so there are time slots for wedding (of which you can book months in advance if wanted) ... something like the old dynamis hourglass system where you can pass out the item (invitations) so only certain people can enter (or have a open wedding).
Imagine it... a NPC can organise it all once it is in place.
NPC: whaddya want
Me: book a wedding
NPC: K, when? Pick a location, open or closed wedding, pick from list of decoration options, announced publicly? (via system message and or bells/confetti), pick ring type, type in ring inscription, change surname yes/no, chose cermony clothing type and colour, chose party favours with invitations (when you pass an invitation to a person and they open it they will get a type of firework)
I could think about this all day XD

That would be pretty funny. I've always thought if they had marriage they should have some form of divorce. 'Cause I almost married on XI 3 times but they kept quitting the game. XD Would have sucked to get stuck married to someone who didn't play anymore. D:
I would love bells or confetti when someone gets married.![]()
I don't think they'd set up a system like XI again with GMs, I think it would be more likely player-run. Which would be cool with me. :3 I'd like if we could set it all up and pick a date though NPC. Hopefully it'd be less off a time wait in this game if they add it.

Oh heaven's no. What I meant was you booked it all yourself and the system automatically slotted you in. I despised the GM run celebration system in FFXI mostly because I booked one a month in advance for my 'i'm leaving an giving all my shite away to you if you win my games spectacular' and they never put up my decorations... when I called a GM about it on the day they said I'd just have to rebook. -_-
Anyway! It didn't stop a day of naked races, Zombie (cure tag based game) and general awesome...

I think if they implement this, anyone should be able to marry any gender of any race. Love knows no boundaries.
Roegadyn should be able to marry a lalafel.
