Although the day after thanksgiving is All Soul's day Right? That's a day of Mourning.I'm not religious but I grew up catholic, and Christmas has very little to do with mourning, in fact it's actually meant to be the biggest, most happy celebration of the year. In the 1800s and earlier, it was pretty much standard to be drunk and partying the whole day. It wasn't until the industrial revolution and mass marketing that kids got on board the party train with Santa Claus and presents.
Thanksgiving isn't about mourning either, otherwise it's not be a day about "Giving Thanks." Unless we want to mourn all the Native Americans that died due to the Europeans, but that's what I do on Columbus Day.
