How is this NOT harrasment/griefing?

I was joining Drybone Behest where I joined a party forming I saw a player on his 50 BLM that wasn't joining the party. When the behest started he mounted up proceeded to kill all the mobs except boss mobs that where level 24 since he was in the behest and thus was unkillable on classes we where trying to level, So I sent a GM ticket about griefing and soon got the reply that this wasn't something the GM's could do anything about.

So is it true can you just waltz around ruining people's event and such and GM's will not do anything about it?

there are a few reasons

1) He has as much right to be there as you do at whatever low level you are
2) He may be working on an achievment


Now, i suggest when you run into these type of people, you try actuly talking to them, quite often, people will invite them, they wont accept, and then the player will threow a fit acting like they are being ignored without even trying to talk it out

You would be amazed at how much that alone can make a difference.

Alot of us who do lower behets would gladly make sure you got ALL the exp if you are nice about it, you just gotta use a bit more communication


and then you do have those douches who just dont care...and unfortunately since they arent breaking any rules you cant do anything about it but perhaps move to a different behest, you have 3 regions for a reason

i think you need to understand what the words harrassment and griefing are

Basicaly, if he is doing it only to spite other players, and to mess with them, and take away from their experienbce, then yeah, hes griefing and something should be done

BUT, if hes doing it because its an achievemnt, if hes getting something out of it, or for any reason other then to purely mess with you, then no, hes not greiding you hes playing the game like anyone else

if your not willing to make concessions for him, he shouldnt have to make them for you either, you both have the right to be there

Actually, I agree with you.

Yeah this person has a right to this event but that doesn't make his actions morally correct. The lvl 50 should have to move camp or should talk to the other people doing the event.

Tbh, I've noticed that people in this game aren't very friendly. A few times I've asked questions and people have outright ignored me. They got very offended when I pointed out that there is no reason for them to ignore my questions.

And joining a group? Forget it. All I ever get is go level jobs x, y, and z to get specific abilities before you could join a group. So I have to level three jobs to lvl 50 before I could do, non-endgame group work? Really?

The way this game is right now, it's not very friendly to new players period. It's actually less friendly than FFXI.

This, For as much flack as the XIV community loves to give XI and people who play/played XI..XIV is a hell of a lot less welcoming and inviting for new people to play than XI ever was. At least in XI they had low level content that was separate from content an end-game player, who typically only care for themselves, would want to partake in.

This is why as excited as I am for 2.0, I know it's goin to fall flat and why XI's new expansion announcement will actually be the reason XI will succeed in 2013, while 2.0 will fall flat. Even in later years SE added a newbie tutorial to XI that's very thorough in what's it out to do.

Biggest problem with the XIV community. For example, back in 2010/early 2011, Ifrit fight for example was "STACK LANCERS!", then out of the blue, they turned it to "STACK THM/BLMS!" which slowly started to seep into every other bit of content imaginable, like Caravans people did it with varied setups, now you only see THM/BLMs on it because god forbid you feed a chocobo a gyshal green..THE HORROR RECOVERING THEIR HP!

The reason 2.0 will fail is not because of mechanics, but the community because no matter how much work SE does for this game, the community trivializes everything and makes it unwelcoming for new players or players who just simply want to be the job they want or specialize with it. Yes you can level and use any class/job you want but some people may only want to be a MNK their entire career for example.

Just to sum it up

Most people on this game are sheep, will always be sheep and will never try anything new or slightly challenging because hey look I can get this done easier if I just nuke x or stack y.

Sadly its a reflection of the instant gratification societal values we now adhere to.

God forbid I want to take my time in a fight relish in the difficulty and even die with a smile on my face because I had fun, NOOOOOOOOO I must kill now I only have 10 minutes left to live.

Dont really know where im going with this lets just say fun takes time and time is all I hear anyone go on about these days.
