DRG polearm, nin Katanna, Thf dagger etc. No one uses weapons that you do not have a A+ rating in and that was most of the time just one main weapon.

If they let us use different weapons they all need to be equal and all have different uses, Weapon skill animations, Speed, etc. Make it have a purpose. If not they leave it as it is and PLEASE do not use ff11 as an example because that game sucked ass when it comes to using different weapons because no one did it.
someone didn't play xi lol forgot about Zerg drks with B+ in club. At one point Pld was good with Great sword. War using dual axe out damaged 2hd(Rampage anyone?) well into WOTG so your wrong. Sam used polearms in ToAU areas and like said before i don't remember any job having a A+ for there main weapon which is stupid. And the thing is people would go to skill up pts for more then just their main weapon.

Incorrect. Most Warriors used Dual Axes because it was better choice before SE adjusted the 2hand formula which made 2handed weapons more stable in regards to accuracy and damage output.

You mentioned 3rd Expansion, Treasures of Aht Urghan, where Colibris that were weak to piercing caused SAMs to use Polearms over Great Katanas due to piercing bonus which lead to more damage output ontop of SAMs innate boosts, i.e Self-Skillchain..did you even play the game?

Also incorrect. Very few jobs even had A+ rating in a weapon therefore you're stating people didn't use anything but their main weapon all of the time, which is incorrect because this varied by situation heavily. For example Zilart and CoP era Paladins used -pdt staff for kiting which later, due to changes in mechanics, a sword and shield, their main weapons, became better for kiting as well as straight tanking.

So you mean like FFXI? Where each weapon have different uses? Equality is the reason Yoshida released the job system and skill reform, to get rid of equality and create some sense of identity to the classes/jobs.
100% agree Earth staff pld lmao

I don't think that because someone didn't have an ls were drks zerged with kclubs that means they didn't play XI... I don't recall pld ever being good with a Gsword. Sam only used Plarm when fighting birds. War dual axes had a period of popularity but Gaxe was better before WoG, ppl just <3 dual wield more than their dps. All melee jobs had A+ with their main 2h weapons, single handed weapon jobs didn't because A+ for single handed didn't exist. It was A- max for 1h IIRC.

Maybe at least some similar weapons could be used. That upcoming Adder Bardiche (WAR) is pretty hot, wouldn't mind using that on my DRG.

As much as i like being able to totally choose my aesthetic a DRG with a sword or staff would just be....eh. Not to mention Min/max would take over then you'd join a group and someone would say, "A DRG with a spear? Dumb noob!"

Some times its best to go with what ya got and just ask for some expanded looking options in the weapon category we got.

Just would like to point out that not ALL jobs had A+ for their main weapon (even if it was 2hander). All jobs NOW in XI have A+ for their main weapon, but not a long time ago.

On topic: Allowing multiple weapons to be equipped on jobs opens up a lot more versatility to your character which is a good thing. I would love to equip a sword on my drg for fun sometimes, although I would never seriously use a sword, the fact that I CAN would be awesome. Who knows they could already have planned to changed their armory system. Maybe not also. A lot is changing in 2.0 and maybe this is something that could be changing.

Same as a mage or any ingame kind... since when an archer goes out to the wilderness with only a bow and arrow?? where is the short damage weapon...
Mayb I'm just talking out of my ass and this is going to be fixed for 2.0 but I havent heard anything about it...
How can they add red mage's if they only gonna be able to equip one type of weapon...
I agree there should be a short sword or knife for Archer close range. Something better than a fist.

Or make the 2 job link to the class have a diff wep please so we have at least something else to use.
    My suggestion:
Gladiator: use one handed weapons with a shield. Add the one handed small axes and swords, flails, maces, etc.

Muraders: Two handed Axes, why not add: Great Swords, Axes, Mauls, Hammers, Maces, etc.

Lancers: Spears/Glaives. Not much else works here. But there are already Tridents etc. Maybe add a Mop for comedy.

Archers: Knife, Sword-breaker (its a parring sword if you don't know) for the off hand close range engagements.
    Add Guns, Rifles.

Conj/Thum: Use Canes,Staves. Expand to Wands, Orbs, Glowie Esper like pets (that are only weapons). Lulu's Stuffed Toys.

Pug: Different type of gloves already exist. Maybe incorporate more kick animations and add weapons that change the shoes/shin guards. Perhaps incorporeal glowing fist weapons that "ignite" when you pull out your weapon instead of actually grabbing a Hora.

Basicly just sdd new visual effects to some weapons or gag weapons.
Or perhaps add a visual enchanting craft that allows a player to customize the way a weapon looks for gil or for marks or whatever. Players love personlizng gear almost more than scoring the gear in the first place.
There is no point in every player at the End Game looking like clones if we don't have to.

I'm not against more weapon choice, but it need to be done with common sense, or we could assist at shit like war with polearm at ifrit, like old lancers. And all the specialization jobs come up with will mostly jump in the sewer

This is something I've debated for a while. Even if the additional weapons don't see particular practical use in parties, instances, etc., I'd still LOVE to be able to play with staff on my PLD just for solo purposes or shits and giggles... I have always hated that we're limited to a weapon dictating a class/job, because it's SUCH a limiting system. And you know, maybe someday I'd like to be able to have nice cool things like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=6-0Njs_ptS0 and guess what! Current limiting armoury system will not allow this.

What you guys don't see is that the Weapon system in this game allows the development team to find a way to make each class specialized. Obviously there have been some changes and additions to help support this fact, The addition of the job system was a way to increase the specialization a class had by in turn limiting its versatility and use of other classes abilities outside of a set margin.

Want to be a Damage Dealer but have no access to healing? play MRD, LNC, or PUG. Have a Conj or WHM, switch to War, Drg, or Mnk. etc etc, you guys should already know how the game works. however WAR and MRD, LNC and DRG, and MNK and PUG all have different ways of preforming the same tasks or different abilities that makes them better in some situations then others.

There is alot they can do with the Armory system and The current Job system to enhance our experience. claiming that system is limiting because it wont allow you to equip curtain things is dumb.

However that's not to say I'm entirely against the idea of allowing different weapon combos. Dual Wield Glad and Mrd seem possible giving access to one handed axes for mrd/war as well as curtain sheilds for those who dont want to dual wield, Great Swords for Glad/Pld would work as well, as these are variations of there weapon specialization, as well as adding quests to allow them access via the guilds that have little to no use.

Alternatively the can take those same ideas and make them into there own classes and/or jobs.

As for an example, Dark Knight is a class that has seen alot of variations throughout the FF series. In FFII it was seen more as a straight damage dealing class, When Leon returned to your party he was equiped with an Axe in his main-hand and a sword in his offhand. However he had no magical capabilities what-so-ever. Due to the versititliy of this system however you could change the characters however you saw fit.

In FFIV it was a sword wielding knight that sacrificed its health to deal AoE damage it was probably limited in how it was created as you didn't spend a majority of the game as a Dark Knight but Rather as a Paladin.

In FFXI it was based around its abilities to enfeeble, drain, and consume its HP to maximize its damage output. It used Scythes as a Primary Weapon but due to the combat system also had access to 2-handed Axes, Single Handed Axes, Swords, 2-handed Swords, and Clubs.

I'm not going to go over every example but one fact stays the same is there ablility to be an HP Spounge I mean Sacrifice there Hit Points for Damage output. Later variations target there abilities to enfeeble and drain as a common place as well. Now Lets take the Dark Knight and look at ways with the current system we can place it in Game.

    - Make it a Job Sphere for Glad: This would focus on a variation of the Paladin tank, using Black Magic rather then White Magic to support. Buffing itself While de-buffing the enemy with drains and enfeeblement. As well as giving It abilities to sacrifice its buffs/HP to deal dmg with special WSes it would not have access to without the job sphere equipped.

    - Make it a Job Sphere for MRD: This would focus more on the damage dealing side of Dark Knight, and would focus on Sacrificing HP to enhance damage output, Abilities like Souleater and Last Resort to buff there damage output while decreasing HP over time. The WS access idea can also be implemented as well as the drain to buff concepts.

    - Adding Scythe as its Weapon Class and Having full control over pre and post Job Sphere abilities: This would allow full development as Dark Knight as a Separate entity. Allowing the team to develop an entirely new Job/Class around the Dark Knight concepts, While using Scythe as its weapon of choice.

These are examples of how such a system is anything but limiting. It may seem limiting in Black and White and to the player may seem like they don't want us to play the way we want. But from a development standpoint it allows them full control over the balance and evolution of the game.

I still hope that they can and will make a real Red Mage in this game, once again there are many ways they can do it, but I don't want to see another watered down mage class like in FFXI I want to see a true swashbuckler, a Spellsword. I've been speculating ways they could do this sense implication of the Job and Combo systems.

Anyway I should stop ranting, /endrant.
