Actually, I encountered the same problem too (and for some people's comment, the action bar was up and running and already in use). At some random (unpredictable), using up/down arrows will change the target mode instead of the action bar. I think this 'bug' should be adressed at some point.
Please don't tell me that I should use macros... It just hides the problem and I should be able to perform as I want (I like a mixture of both).
I actually had this problem before we were able to switch between the targets. I hated the new system and it would never let me subtarget in combat, healing was a nightmare. When I tried scrolling through action bars in mid combat half the time it would change the targetting and sometimes it would scroll action bars. Thank god I got the old system back though.Actually, I encountered the same problem too (and for some people's comment, the action bar was up and running and already in use). I'm using a gamepad and I've never had a problem with Targeting Mode B. Up/Down for me always cycles types when the bar isn't up, and when it is it cycles the action bars. Honestly since that fix I only use the /targetnpc macro when need be.
dunno how you say mages dont do damage, There are nice spells like shock, choke, frost, that not only do DoT dammage, but increase damage from proper offensive spell of same element, and combo shopck+profundity+thunder, is very effective. also you get sp for ALL mobs you AoE. set you chat to only display SP and you will see that.
Only thing that 1-shoots you ( except for thighs much higher than you) are Imps ( with that crazy fire spell) Vile gnats ( with the lihgtning, but if you pay attention you can dodge that one ) and devillets. But those 1-shot EVERYONE. its just their special skill, 1-shot annoying adventurers. Only way is use skills that reduce target TP, and hope you kill it before it recharges, or kill it so fast it wont be able to nuke you.
Only valid point is elemental points do seem useless. well devs said there is cap so you wont become overpowered if you max single element. However i don not see any differencem at least visible ones, in damage and resistance. But that is old problem, and it simply need tweaking and rebalancing.
man he doesnt have superpowers, he's not doing something that is impossible for anyone else to do.why everyone keep comparing this Dodore killer guy to another normal gameplaying?
http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...cicuid=1882333
this guy also alloted his points to 174 VIT and 0 point to INT, isn't it another proof that SE didn't made mages in the right way and need to get fix?
sure maybe he minmaxed correctly but nobody is asking the average mage to solo an NM.
Actually with decent Mdef/res you can either take much less damage from these or outright negate them. I've been in groups with DoW that have very low Mdef/res and these monsters wipe the floor with them but I'm always able to survive.Only thing that 1-shoots you ( except for thighs much higher than you) are Imps ( with that crazy fire spell) Vile gnats ( with the lihgtning, but if you pay attention you can dodge that one ) and devillets. Moles are a pretty big threat to mages though. Those damn moles...
The gear and the spell effects are an insult to a series that has had such well dressed spectacular bombers as Vivi, Lulu and Edea.
I can't imagine anyone making them wear a XIV potato sack.

In fact, this thread should be moved to CON section and be changed to "SE hates CON?"
You can actually look up CON solo videos on youtube. Mages are not weak. You are just not using it to it's full potential.
