    Basically if you want to do big dmg nukes on anything besides DC/EM mobs, you have to regiment. BUt droping 50% of a mobs hp in 1 nuke does not seem underpowered at all. This is another example of how people are just doing it wrong
    How did you do that much to a dwarf diremite?
    What is your Int and gear you a wearing? And what battle regiments did you synch with?
    I used Purge, Profundity II, chainspell and the most I did was around 600 with all spells, as a 44 Con with any regiment I could think of with another person. I couldn't even do 200-400 to those until I ranked to 40 with 146 Int. With Velveteen gear and Magic Accuracy rings. I am sorry I think you are exaggerating the numbers a wee bit, unless you sacrificed all you stats into Int, then I might believe this.

    Mages (thaumaturge) get the most spells that ignore the level difference between you and the target, making them ridiculous for damaging Notorious Monsters (or any high level enemy).

    Thaumaturge gets a spell that pretty much makes you immune to magic damage in some encounters and it can be kept up all the time while on thaumaturge.

    MP is almost infinite now.

    Someone with conjurer and thaumaturge at 50 cannot die unless he is hit for over his maximum HP barring extreme cases (or unless he doesn't know what he's doing).


    The fact that you have something against Dots and Shadowsear (otherwise you wouldn't have made this thread) doesn't mean mages are in a much worse position than others. In case you hadn't noticed, almost half of the spells any class gets are useless too, it's not exclusive to mages.

    Life in Eorzea is great for Thaumaturges and Archers, and crappy in comparison for everyone else.

    Diremites in Copperbell mines;

    Regiment was this

    Glad Lumn Spire + attack buff + Cadence => Lnc with attack buff + acc buff + WS => Me with profunity II + Blood Rite II + Blizzard II. The dmg was right in that range unless I resisted, my int was very low I only did 1 reset from my glad build was 87.

    I haven't really been able to test Shell, but when I was playing with Protect earlier it was negating a consistent 10% of damage from physical attacks.

    i have 50 VIT and the only time i get one shotted is when Great Buffalo does his Super stomp for, or the hate loss rush.

    As far as I can tell, the only real relevant complaint in the op is the AoE nerf, if SE wants to encourage mages and dds to use thier AoEs for large links/crowd control, that seems to be the most important issue to resolve, and the protect/shell nerf, if you are referring to the tier 1 spell, I guess it would seem weak at r50. As for soloing things in my level, my stats lean more towards the physical than magical, but my nukes tend to land for between 200~400 dmg. Might be the way I alloted my points for elemental affinity.

    yeah mages arent underpowered, you are probably doing it wrong, no offense.


    They are kind of a pain to use what with aoe/single target selection being a bit akward and you needing a lot of slots on your hotbar but no not underpowered.
