Most Japanese developers use Tokyo Game Show for their huge news, given as it's in Japan, and they're Japanese.

E3 is a joke anymore, it's all about getting the biggest name you can afford to promote Call of Duty 4: Black Ops 2: Modern Warfare 3: The Expansion 6.

Final Fantasy XIV was first announced during the Sony Press Conference in 2009. It was only mentioned there because it was "Sony Exclusive" and fit in with the trailer for Final Fantasy XIII. If it wasn't being made for the PlayStation 3, it wouldn't have even been mentioned at E3.

Even if it was first announced on the E3.. wasnt the first playable Demo presented at the Games-Con?

False, False and False. E3 is a global event by any means and when announcements happen they are global. Sure it mostly focuses on the NA audience but that doesn't mean they never announce anything pertinent to other markets.

As far as third party coverage and media it is still the biggest event in gaming. You can say your local pizza parlor has more attendies or that Lady Gaga's birthday party had more media coverage but that doesn't change the truth.

Well that's hardly surprising considering the state the game was in. It was playable at E3 2010 (I was there) but all they had was alpha material.

If that is the vastly awesome Kara video I think it is, it's actually sadly simply a tech demo

Like you just said im wrong? Get your facts straight before posting. It doesnt matter how many times you say that im wrong, it wont change facts. What makes it Global? Because you can watch it on the Internet? Because you can check everything about it on the Internet? Because Publishers from all over the World attend there?.. If you go by that, every fu**ing existing Con is a Global Player then.. lol.

    The Games-Con was 1 Month after E3. <_<

It doesn't matter which conference brings the biggest crowd, it matters who is watching it. Many people tune in to e3 maybe more then any other gaming convention in the world. Yes, maybe the above two are bigger, but that doesn't mean e3 is to be put lightly. It is one of the most important events for game devs, if not the most.

Also it is a world event, considering it is broadcasted all over the world.

Also, no matter how much SE loves JP (as they prob should) NA is their biggest consumer. But companies like SE and Nintendo will always think of their backyard first, just like American gaming companies do in America.

To put e3 lightly, like you are doing, is just wrong. I have no idea what SE is doing, if they aren't doing a trailer and might surprise with gameplay, or not, but I think I'll still trust them to blow our minds with 2.0.

People still can't come up with a consences, what happened with 1.0. Did the top guns at SE push for a release too early? Or did the devs just go in the wrong direction? I say both, the big guys pushed for a early release of a game going in the wrong direction. Yoshi is trying to prevent that. If he thinks there shouldn't be a trailer, then we should trust him. Because he cares for the game, he is trying to push it in the right direction and give it enough time to be great. If they were to release a trailer with just CG, I'd be pissed, better not one then that.

Wait so why is Tokyo Game Show suddenly global but E3 is not?

They are both attended by big names, and saying that Japanese developers only announce at TGS is wrong considering how many major announcements over the years have been made by Japanese software and hardware developers at E3 and not Tokyo Game Show.

I don't know what games-con is, but Gamescom has only been around for about 3 years, in that time you think it is a bigger deal than E3 and has more attention? What do you base that on? I've never heard of anything important ever being unveiled at gamescom.

Who cares about how many people go to these things, it is about what is typically unveiled there that determines whether people pay attention to them or not. Gamescom is always much lower profile than E3, and that isn't likely to change this year either.

And who is saying that? Are you a Game-Dev that you know that? I never said E3 is not important, but its not the biggest Games-Con, and has not the highest attendance. Thats common knowledge.. oh wait.. FFXIV-Forum..

Like i said, that makes every Convention an World-Event. And as a matter of fact you wont see it in a lot of European Countries on TV btw. Just a couple "non-famous" Game-Channels on Pay-TV will show it.

You just put the 2 bigger Games-Con's lightly compared to E3.. so why not following your own advice first? I know tons of people, including me, which dont give a f*ck about E3 beside FFXIV News.

To expand on this point, I think it's fair to assume that most people posting in this thread(and maybe these forums) have enough specified knowledge to figure out how and where they can stream any type of online game coverage(unless you'd rather publicly admit to being an idiot, which by all means), and thus not only are they streaming E3 coverage(that the outlets choose to focus on, mind you) , but they can probably do the same for Gamescom and other gaming conventions like TGS, PAX, etc., unless you don't which is fair, although I don't see why you wouldn't.

So who does that leave? The people that DON'T get their news online, but rather get it via word of mouth or by visiting events or what have you. The gaming public at large does not have access to the E3 showfloor, but they DO at the gaming cons I mentioned previously, which like I pointed out in my first post, that means actual fans playing the game and spreading the word out there, because let's face it: Who are you going to trust? Gushing IGN editors who game companies may or may not have in their back pocket, or your best friend who just got back from an awesome gaming con? You can't get the latter at E3.

For all of you obsessed with the NA side of things, they admittedly COULD have the thing at PAX(all variables being equal of course), but it probably just didn't fit with their timetables. Who knows? They still might. It is at the tail end of August after all.

I know that initial emotional response stings, and I was just as frustrated at first, but then I got back to doing other things and I was perfectly fine.

Now just think how many people in your position on the other side of the pond that have never heard(or cared) about E3. I'm pretty sure that since Gamescom, a lot of Europeans(and maybe even a lot of Japanese) don't even bother to bat an eye at E3 in its current state.
