So wait, you posted an article in which Yoshida talks about streamlining crafting and says nothing about auto-craft? Doesn't that back up Vedis' contention 100%?

i just read it too, and i in no way shape or form see anything about high quality there
what i do see is him saying that youll either be trying to go for a quick "get it done" method or for high quality which takes effort
the "get it done" system is now hasty hands which is an auto 100% no fail if it is low enough level compared to you
but again, NO WHERE in that article does it say anything about auto crafting

One that's very simplified and that you're going just for the item you need without having to worry about High Quality, with a small chance of High Quality. Then there's the other system, where it will take more time and effort, but the chance of getting that High Quality item will become higher. So the people who want to spend more time and do it carefully will have the higher chance of a High Quality, and then the people who want to get it done, they have the consolidated system.
Edit: They're two different crafting systems, not methods. It's not "Hasty Hand".

it all depends on how you look at it, right now, we technicaly do have 2 systems
1 where you go for HQ and one where you dont
i think you are looking way too far into what he said instead of what hes actualy done

Thank you very much Answa for finding the link, and TheVedis for answering.
Indeed what the guy said is not very clear, could be taken anyway you like, typical corporate talk.
For me, having to be hardcore to craft something decent, is the essence of a good crafting system.
If everybody and his sister is able to max crafting levels and craft everything they want, then everybody and his sister should be able to defeat tough bosses and get the "phat lootz", just to be fair.
Only the players that are willing to invest the effort, time and patience should be able to craft the good stuff, just like only the players that are willing to invest the effort to learn the group coordination and rotation routines should be able to defeat the tough bosses and get the nice loot.
To me thats common sense and i dont understand why so many people want to destroy the craft system in ffxiv and turn it into yet another wow clone, like theres not enough of those already.

I can definitely relate Kaboro and it's nice to see some still understand the mindset of a 'Crafter at Heart'. The crafting system is already getting way too dumbed down as it is as it's not only just a niche area of play but it's a labour of love. Many usually didn't do it for the ranks and 'mad epic stuff' as they did for the sake of enjoying the achievement and sense of accomplishment from it. Makes me wonder how many that are pro-autocraft actually experienced the original crafting system while sitting down and enjoying the accomplishment of getting things done from it rather than focused on the 'time spent' or 'how many skills were involved'.Thank you very much Answa for finding the link, and TheVedis for answering.

Personally, it was better before it got changed whereas we actually needed to craft every detail down to the nail, rivet, glue, etc . It was the draw for many including myself as it lent more toward the realistic crafting nuances of actually making an item. That and the needed skills in other crafts not only encouraged cross-craft ranking but also gave the markets a ooster in the rear end as it encouraged the employ of those in other crafts to contribute. Instead now it's basically throwing an ingot into something through say.. carpentry and make arrowheads from it (not counting the rest of the stuff tossed in for full arrows) using a saw in one step or making bows / fishing rods without strings and lines. Everything is just slowly melding into a one-track mindset with crafting at this point only to become 1-click craft everything in the future ideal. For many it would be a godsend so they don't have to invest more than a few minutes of their time to make 50+ items but the rest it's just a faded memory of the craft that once was and not something that is being looked forward to at all.
