Double post because of the wrong spelling, I was hoping the first one would float out of existence. Why the double post?

Again, there is no point when most people don't even want to touch them.
I don't want the achievements to be easy, I want them to take time, but I also don't want ridiculous achievements that no one wants to do. That defeats the purpose. I don't mind long term goals, but it can't be a goal if no one even tries to start it.
The golden tools are no problem, those are feasible long term goals. They make you want to get them.
Exactly, there seems to be no point in these super long achievements. No only do I get nothing out of it, it is just ridiculous to ask someone to do 5,000 levequests, especially with leveling that way is far worse then partying. There's a difference between "long long long term goals" and 3 year long goals that require doing local levequests without ever letting it reach past 99+ quests (or else it will take even longer) for just 20 points, and that's just one achievement.
Not to mention the rewards for many of the achievements are simply way underwelming, even considering just the achievement points.
"Lost in Localization" takes way longer than "Notorious Monster Hunting", however the later gives more points and a title, for example. The crafting achievements are also way faster than the local leve ones and give an actual useful tool at the end.
It's nice to have very long term goals, but it's also nice to be properly rewarded by them, even if it's in something as "meaningless" as those achievement points.

You're missing the point. These achievements aren't really meant to be gone after, they're the kind of achievements that you'll randomly get while doing other stuff. You don't aim for them, you just get them after a while. So why have them in the game you ask? I say why not?
I think you are missing the point. Achievements aren't meant to be done randomly through time, they are meant to be achieved for. You should shoot for them. If no one is shooting for certain achievements, then there is something wrong. You're missing the point. Just because you aren't working toward it, doesn't mean it wasn't achieved.

I think what they're saying is that achievements should be something you're excited to go out and do, rather than something that just happens after 2 or 3 years of mindless grinding on repetitive content.
Exactly. And most the stuff I am talking about won't even come with time. Especially since a lot was already done by when the achievements came through.
