Little background for you I am a certified hardware tech and I can assure you my system is very nicely setup, Zalman CPU cooler, 470 GTX, 3x 240MM fans internally giving good airflow, with 3x 120MM fans up top to properly pull air out of the case.

According to MSi Afterburner right now

99% GPU Usage
88C Temp fan running at 79%
Fan running at 4k RPM on my GPU

All I am running is Vent and Pidgin IM

This is not a system build issue it is a coding issue within FFXIV.
I have a HIS 5870 and the fan never roars past 50% on auto....mainly because I have proper ways to evacuate the air so it barely peaks at 73C. >_> So it sounds more like a coolnig issue...probably turbulence. That or they need to retitle it "Nvidia, the way it's meant to burn."
