You're acting as if we're proposing a 100% drop rate on every good drop in the game. We're not. We (those fed up with horrible drop rates) would prefer not to have to win a battle as fast as possible continously for 18 hours a day for weeks to get a drop. If you think that this is reasonable, then I mean this in the nicest way possible but you are not right upstairs.

The basic gist of the proposal in this thread is that instead of repeating a fight 20 times a day forever to get a drop, we change it to once or a few times a day over a similar time period. Players deserve to be able to participate in their real lives and still be able to obtain a reward for their victories in battle in a reasonable (not too long OR too short) time frame.
No I am happy for those members of my shell that do have the body pieces and not everyone on the server having them. If this game is going to have any good endgame gear or content (which is gear that sperates that dedicated shells from the socials) then SE has 2 options. 1.) Loot system as current with dungeons or 2.) A mob with 2-3% DR that pops once a day in a predefined area or roaming that cannot be killed by your average pug or social shell. I want gear that when I get it or a member who represents the shell I am in gets it that it wasnt easy to get. I first was estatic when we got our first few Garuda drops several hrs after the path. It ment something because we had beaten her and few other ls on our server did. But then 2 days later a cheese strat comes out and 70% of the people are walking around with them. You cant have your cake and eat it too.

I agree with the OP, shocking =O but I do, this system needs to go, their is no progression, Garuda is in the right step, but some of the other stuff, (along with the horrible primal loot system, omg who the heck thought of this crap...).

I'd much prefer having goals based on something I can work towards, not something that i rely on a computerised random number to chance me

A thousand times this. Even if I had to run Ifrit a guaranteed 200 times to get 7/7 weapons at least I'd know every * amount of kills I can get a weapon of my choosing for a class I want. It's not a case of just wanting stuff handed to you, which gets suggested all the time on these forums, it's a case of wanting to be able to see visible progress; to be able to know that if I do Ifrit twice a day I could have that bow I want for my archer in 10 days.

TL;DR: "We got all our stuff via our non-lives and its not fair if it gets fixed now that we're done with it already"

How does less horrible drop rates take anything whatosever away from your "we beat garuda first!" achievement? Answer: It doesn't. We aren't asking to have our cake and eat it too. We're asking for things to be balanced and reasonable. Having to run a dungeon or battle 20 times a day to get anything more than dark matter is NOT "reasonable" in any sense of the word.

Why should you even care what other people get how? You beat it first! good for you! You can live the rest of your life knowing that you did something before somebody else. Balance adjustments can and do get made, and it's essentially impossible to protect everything that came before the balance change in doing so. Say PvP comes out tomorrow, and I discover a way to kick everyone's butts. A week later, someone else finds a "cheez strat" to counter mine. Another week later, the system is rebalanced, "cheez' is fixed, and yada yada. Should I be complaining because I can't do what I did before the balance fixes? Should the other guy be complaining that he can't "Cheez" it? Or should both sides simply accept that change happens, store their accomplisments in their memories and move on?

I like Garuda's drop system, it caters to everybody's needs even in its worst case scenario:

A casual that wants one weapon will need to win 20 times 40 if he wants two etc etc, while hardcores will have to win 140 times. (assuming you have rotten luck and got no random drops at all) I believe this is fair, some might say 140 is too many times but lets not forget that you're after seven weapons for ALL the battle classes in game, or loot for seven different people/characters in almost any MMO, so that is appropriate.

Leveling up is too fast in this game, that capping all classes is now "the standard" and expecting to equip them all became the norm.

    +1 to OP.

I support the points mechanics (like guild marks or seals) over the low drop rate too.

They do not have any plans of increasing the difficulty in exchange for a higher drop rate. Also, since Darklight equipment is one of the strongest of all the currently obtainable gear, a proper drop rate was established with this in mind, and as such we have no plans of changing the current drop rate. However, after monitoring conditions for a while and based on the feedback we receive we will look into possible adjustments for the future.

As part of the new direction promised, we here on the development and management teams have adopted four new keywords for FINAL FANTASY XIV: fun, live, reboot, and rebuild
0.001% drop rate and repeat 100 times the same activity for 1 loot is not fun
