I do not see this saying make the game FFXI-2 at all it is taking several good apects form the previous game. People on this forum need to realize a whole lot of FFXI was just done right, even better then WoW in many many cases. No one wants a clone but we all want a game that works. Well besides the trolls they want the game to fail.first off they need to stop trying to be other mmo's, since they'll never beat wow cuz it already has its fan base locked in.
they need to drop anima and add a form of warp spell/warp items
they need to add a mog house or something like it
they need to to make you change jobs in your mog house
they need to add a painful death penalty or or there no point in dieing
they need to make aoe spells seprate from solo attack/buff/debuff spells
they need to make re-do all the classes as there own type of class(dd,tank, buff, debuff)
they need to make a real search like ffxi for finding party members and flag for party.
That and the GO play FFXI does not work anymore, SE already killed ffxi they would have to remove all the abysea add-ons and do a roll back to last June to really fix it. FFXI is the easiest mmo on the market atm bar none.
1st point: agreed they copying other mmos will lead to their own failure, atm they have not done that though.
2nd point: I am sorta mixed on this, anima works for the casual player base easy get to a leve camp and group with others. this they need to keep. Or add Teleport and Warp and drop Anima regen to 3 a day.
3rd: Housing Agreed
4th: I see no reason to do this honestly, you cannot change jobs in battle so it is impossible to be abused really.
5th: If death is pointless people will not care, even the head dev agrees on this. The stiffer the death penalty the better the playerbase becomes. I think a more harse death penatly or large armor/weapon dmg would be equivalent to SP loss. Currently the idea is well lets try it if we die it doesn't matter and that is just pure stupid so this one I agree with completely the game needs a real death penalty.
6th: I agree on this one as well, separate them and change the mp cost. Solo target cure should cost less then aoe.
7th: Traditional FF classes yes pls.
8th: while I think the party feature works currently, the people are the part not working (if ppl used it it would be 10 fold better then 11s system), if this will solve the party issue then they need to it.
Well they better sort out those mobs that can one shot you with no problem first (imps, gnats etc), it will become increasing frustrating for people to recieve a death penalty becauase of crappy balancing of enemy abilities..5th: If death is pointless people will not care, even the head dev agrees on this. Imps move is pure BS I agree that needs to be readjusted badly, the Gnats on the other hand it is conal and you can get out of the front of it to dodge, so those can be avoided by knowing what to do.
What they need to do is use their own industry experience to continue developping their game.
The game probably isn't this bad due to bad ideas... most likely it's due to falling way behind schedule.
Pretty much this. I see where Tanaka was going with the game when he was the lead however I think he rushed it and didn't get to fine tune things.
What I want to see in FFXIV.
More definition between 'classes' and the roles they fill.
New classes, particularly a summoner class that is NOT a support class. (SUMMONERS ARE NOT JUST SUPPORT GDI!)
Missions and quests that REQUIRE combat on the players part. A weaver should NOT be able to finish the story solo.
More story content.
More cutscenes outside of the main story line.
More traditional FF-type lore in the game. Chocobos, Moogles, airships, etc.
Less gimping because of fear of imbalance. Some classes will (and should) be stronger in certain areas than others.
Less mage hate. Seriously, everything SE has done to mages in their MMOs suggests an irrational fear or hatred for any and all non-melee classes.
What I don't want to see in FFXIV:
More FFXI.
More WoW.
More grind.
