Concern over "FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Gear Design Contest"

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me understand... for the ring design contest that I'd like to enter, you are suppose to put in your Character and World names in the entry field so that you can receive your ring in the event you win. What if I don't have a character or world yet? The character that I'm currently logged into is mine, but it was to try out the game before 2.0 and get a feel for it as well as so I could post on these forums...when I actually play I'll be making a new character on a different world.

So I guess my question is if I can enter the contest at all? Because I don't know my name/world yet.

I believe you can only enter the contest with an active character.

I was kind of thinking the same thing cause I wanted to make a male miqo'te my main, I was kind hoping the ring would be tradable to your character or something since my character that I used was an alt and my main is in-active. /shrugs

Still though, it's not only going to your character you'll be able to obtain the ring you made (if they choose you) down in the game so you can always work on obtaining the ring.

You'll be able to recreate your character from scratch in 2.0 while still retaining all of your progress. If your concern is having the item on a male Miqote, just recustomize your current character to a male Miqote when 2.0 launches.

No that's not my concern. Thank you for the advice though... I have no interest in playing a male Miqo'te. I'm making a new character with a new name on a new server. I have no interest in saving what little progress I currently have. The character I have now will be gone when 2.0 comes out. The only reason she exists now was so I could have Legacy. The little progress I currently have on her was just so I could see what the game was like (and to see how the computer ran the game). I heard that there was going to be new servers so that those players who are late to join the game (thanks to PS3 release) where on a more "level" playing ground (compared to what had happened in XI). I'll be on the PS3 well my boyfriend plays XIV on the computer (which is why we haven't officially started XIV yet...)

And yeah I could re-obtain the ring made, but if I made a new character the "exclusive in-game item" would be lost. Anyway thanks for the advice guys...was hoping I could participate in these events but I suppose I cannot.

Contest seemed fun...I like that XIV is doing such a thing and hopefully they're do it again in the future so those who don't play until the PS3 release get to have a shot.
