Gunbreaker got ruined too. This game is so miserable. And every time this happens you get these people talking down to you about how the game being made less fun for you is actually a good thing.

I'm 100% more upset over the GNB changes personally, though I might be bias due to being a tank main.
RDM's changes are bad but its not completely removed melee.

It’s okay guys. It’s not the 1000th cut yet! We’re still alive!

I am curious what exactly this stems from, giving such a change to the Red Mage.
For a Moulinet combo, it would have made sense since their attacks are a cone and sometimes it's a bit tough to find a good spot to perform it, but even having it on the Riposte as well...
Edit - Job guide explanation:
"Red mage's firepower often suffered when distancing themselves from a target due to battle mechanics. For this reason, we adjusted Enchanted Riposte, Enchanted Zwerchhau, and Enchanted Redoublement so they may be executed at a distance while under the effects of Manafication. Furthermore, we have removed Manafication's magical damage increase effect to prevent potential stress resulting from entering burst phases with Manafication still on cooldown. To ensure red mage's offensive contribution is not negatively impacted by this change, we have increased the potency of Vice of Thorns and enhanced the effects of Embolden."

RDM’s design from day one, even so far as how alisaie plays it is to jump in sword combo backflip out then do big magic finisherI honestly feel that if RDM launched with this change, nobody would have really thought about it. They would've just thought "Oh so my buff extends my magical rapier attacks? Neato". That's because at one point RDM was considered the mobile, easy caster. I think the real tragedies here are BLM and SMN.
I think making the backflip not the optimal damaging OGCd did more to harm Red Mage's identity than this.
At this point we aren’t even playing the job how alisaie plays it
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

Job identity? Fun?
We should just give every job only 1 button and repeatedly mash it until the enemy dies with the rare 2 minute exception. Oh wait, that's literally every healer right now.
I don't understand this trend of making every job tedious and one-dimensional either but it has absolutely sucked the joy out of a lot of previously engaging job designs.
Well if your idea of fun is a worse version of gunbreaker, than there is a reason people are talk down to you. I feel like many people will enjoy the gunbreaker changes.

I'll have to test them in-game to see how good or bad this is. It's easy to doom and gloom when reading patch notes...
At least I am glad they didn't do any major changes to the jobs I play every day. Sometimes I don't understand what the logic behind some changes are.
I hope that everyone's jobs who have been changed are not as bad and you can continue to enjoy playing them.

Have to confess, have only skimmed over the patch notes as am at work and can't really focus on that - but I can't really make much sense of the changes they've made to Gunbreaker.
