    Individual job design in the present never informs that of an upcoming expansion. You've not experienced enough expansions to understand that, but I can assure you this has always been the case.
    I'll believe it when I see it, it makes no sense to change jobs in 7.4 in a way that would undermine "changes" coming to 8.0 Didn't they say no more job simplification in 7.0? They've said a bunch of conflicting things that it becomes hard for me to believe or looking forward to anything they state will happen down the line.

    Though I've been out the loop for a while now because I genuinely think expecting for them to magically see that what they're doing to jobs and the game as a whole isn't good for the game.

    just a reminder that Yoshi-P promised not to make classes any simpler:

    In an attempt to curb multiple updates' worth of simplification, Yoshi-P details how Square Enix "will be incorporating various changes" post-Dawntrail, some of which will be "related to the skill rotations." He even jokes that Kaiten could return as "Kaiten 2" and reiterates his earlier promise - come such changes, classes "will not be more simple."

    Yes, this is the interview that also holds the mistranslation that coming 7.2, we would see changes to jobs, which was later clarified that they meant encounters, not classes. That is besides the point though, as despite Yoshi-P's promises to not make classes more simple during DT's patch cycle, most changes we have seen aimed at doing exactly that, which is a damn shame if you ask me.

    So you now have the flexibility to have ONE of your melee combos being at ranged allowing you to play around mechanics that have you position outside without cucking your 2min. What exactly is less challenging?

    This is exactly my point, how can we trust that 8.0 will magically fix anything if all they've done is go back on what they've said and make empty promises after empty promises. At the end of the day who knows if 8.0 will even change jobs enough in a positive direction? though the signs are there that they will not be changing anything and we will be getting more of the same slop we've got for years now.

    I just really hope people realise that being excited for 8.0 will lead to massive disappointment. It will be a miracle if changes happen that make the jobs gain back some identity, even more so if it really changes up the same bland formular of job design started in shb and "perfected" in EW/DT.

    Though if im wrong good, i want to be wrong here I've just simply grown tired of expecting better.

    Is it really lobotomization?

    You get your melee combo once every 2 minutes 'for free' when all buffs are out without sacrificing it because 'oh well mechanic needs to be resolved first and if i go in melee 1 or melee 2 will die / mechanic will not resolve'

    as someone who only plays redmage in casual content whenever i want to play a melee mage i really dont like this change.

    sure it might be convenient for savage raiders who want a good pars... oh no wait thats not allowed but thats pretty much the reason, no?

    but savage is not everything! jobs should make fun in casual content! and that includes living out the job fantasy. (anyone having flashbacks to jumps and dragoons?)

    I honestly feel that if RDM launched with this change, nobody would have really thought about it. They would've just thought "Oh so my buff extends my magical rapier attacks? Neato". That's because at one point RDM was considered the mobile, easy caster. I think the real tragedies here are BLM and SMN.

    I think making the backflip not the optimal damaging OGCd did more to harm Red Mage's identity than this.
