There is less to "Dump" into a 20 second window every 2 minutes, PCT has your hammer and comet and black and viper has the double re-awaken, its more about aligning into the group than a setup outright breaking if you messed up the order.
It's more about you just playing and something happening every 2 minutes than spending 2 minutes setting up your charges, guage, buffs for that window.

PCT is honestly not that bad, it’s the first class in a long time that actually benefits from downtime and has a completely freeform rotation and its dash at least does something different (well besides expedient)
It’s like baseline expectation for an MMO class but that still kinda puts it above everyone else
VPR meanwhile is playing RPR with guard rails and auto combo so yeah not much there
PCT is both the heaviest burster and the only class that can set up it’s two minutes whenever it wants so I’m not sure that’s quite accurate
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

I have a feeling that no matter what SE does with 8.0, they won’t live up to expectations as they are right now. Their biggest issue is that they want to surprise players with big reveals at fan fest but they do not manage expectations outside of those event sufficiently enough. Little hint here, a tease there, it’s great for marketing but unless you are going exceeded what you stated, it can and will spiral into expectations beyond your control.
What we need right now are cohesive plans, roadmaps, and your plans to address player concerns. None of this spoils the MSQ or the big reveals but what it does is help players feel that their concerns have been heard and are being addressed. If you don’t know what you’re going to do yet, let us know you’re still discussing it but within X and Y bounds so we can participate in the discussion.
This isn’t rocket science, it’s harder… this is expectation management. If you don’t, people will eventually expect 8.0 to be FFXIV-2 and then you won’t have a mess, you’ll have a disaster. It’s time to manage the narrative now before it’s too late.

Like I understand hyping up the crowd and all that, but we need to know what's coming when (and for them to stick to that schedule as much as possible! I'm still waiting on that Housing update), and to have a proper communication channel. Neither the forums, nor Reddit, nor anywhere else, seems to have confirmation that their criticism/feedback is being acknowledged.
Another issue I have personally is that they put the most interesting 'new' content at the x.5 patches. At the complete end of the expansion! It needs to be in the base one.

I don't know if we should be phrasing it "are we expecting too much" because I think we're expecting very reasonable change... The question is will ff14 8.0 live up to bare minimum expectations? who knows? frankly, I think we should temper ourselves and not get overhyped for things that will likely disappoint us.
Though at the end of the day I really do hope DT is a wake up call... just who knows really at this point.

Keep your expectations low. And then take those expectations and lower them further.
We can hope for character creation rework, glamour rework, job reworks, 2 minute meta rework, friendlist rework, etc. But at the end of the day the only thing we can expect really is a better MSQ than DT. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

All that secret keeping of them hurts the game because when something comes out it's way too late to respond to feedback and funnily enough they actually learned that lesson in the past with the job speculations and which role they would be.
FT not having a normal mode? Maybe talk about that beforehand.
CE having the problems it had at launch? Maybe talk about that beforehand as well.
The jobs? How about we lobotomize BLM out of the blue? Fun right?
Not even in gameplay but story as well. The 7.3 trailer for example was incredibly boring because they kept everything about a boss hidden...everyone knew who it would be beforehand.
@topic
I honestly don't know what to think tbh.
On one hand it seems like they have finally realized that continuing like nothing happened is not possible and at least in words 8.0 seems to become something and the tone has shifted nowadays.
On the other hand I don't expect them to do anything drastic at all.
For dungeons they could actually surprise us already in the patches but they don't.
For jobs they could for example have the BLM feedback at least acknowledge instead of this silence.
Screw ultimate or savage balancing honestly.
I am frigging tired of everything revolving around that content to the detriment of other things and I am even more frigging tired of things like puzzles in the story (which was a good idea) to be downplayed just because of skippers.
That's the big change I hope to happen personally (and probably won't come), that they stop revolving job design around that content and give more freedom again.
I truly think these devs still have it in them and an MMO really needs a shakeup from time to time, even if it fails (if they have learned from the 7.0 base story, more power to them).
But I don't think 8.0 will be the big "rebirth" some think it will be (though I do think at least the job changes will be bigger than some think). That company is far too japanese for that and frankly there is a reason their video game industry is falling behind nowadays.

Personally my expectations? In the ground. It's literally a narrative problem they pulled with Dawntrail with the heavy quality drop, namely in 7.0 and then just barely improving until 7.2 gave us working things again. 7.3 just ended a whole story arc that should've been in 7.0 honestly, so now we're onto the real post-patch set-up.
The main problem we ran into after Endwalker story-wise was just...the Void Arc took up all the runtime to the point we had ZERO chance at even building up anything for Tural, so it definitely felt made from chicken scratch with how sluggish and slow Part 1 was. I'd honestly expect them to drive XIV into the ground if they can't get their narrative writing team up to snuff for 8.0, since we have to remember that for this game the story is everything. Without it, XIV isn't going to be able to stand at all since gameplay hasn't been a focus for the past four years up until now - and even that's a joke when Healers literally have nothing to do.
I could air a whole laundry list of problems the game has, but the most egregious are the following for jobs:
- Healers are not required in Dungeon content, meaning if people want 1 Tank 3 DPS, then players can play that way if they want compared to the whole Titan-egi controversy back when Ramuh could be cheesed with a skilled SMN in ARR. Double-standards are bad, by the way - especially where Phoenix Downs are concerned. The role was neutered in Shadowbringers, in case people forgot that WHM sucked the entirety of Stormblood because of bad design backlash from Media Tour.
- Tanks feel too much the same, WAR is essentially God in Dungeons, Tanks no longer require healers due to heavy self-sustain, so they get their cake and eat it too, especially with the inclusion of Phoenix Downs. It's not rocket science to fix some overperformers like WAR in that sense, given that it already shows up to Raids as being pretty rough outside of Holmgang timers dictating fights half the time like they did in Endwalker.
- DPS feel all the same, yet Ranged suffer because...they have a Ranged Tax that doesn't make sense? We've had this discussion about the whole 1% for years now since Shadowbringers. It does not take forever and a half to fix this kind of stuff outside of the battle team's paranoia of a repeat of Heavensward 2x Ranged Meta. Oh wait. 2x Caster Meta was a thing this tier and previous? OOPS! While there are jobs that suffer a lot from oversimplification(VPR, SMN, in particular) or just its god damn kit not working with itself(MCH), they need to kick that fear of having a 2x Ranged Meta because the main offender from ARR to Stormblood was literally just Dragoon's Piercing Debuff. They are overdue a 200 DPS Raise, if not more to bring them in line with certain Casters and not have the 1% be a major issue.
