Thread: Are we expecting TO MUCH from 8.0?

You are not being negative, and yes I think some people are expecting too much.

If you spend 8 years getting beans on toast, then it is safe to say you will also get beans on toast tomorrow. - That is to say, they aren't deviating away from their formula.

I sure hope this admittance of complacency in the team means they will make some moves here and there. I think they have it in them (they made ARR, they made ShB), they just got too comfy in their laurels to realize how much they've been messing up until it exploded in their faces, despite many warning them of it well before the biggest signs were there.


I like to think they cannot afford to make another flop expansion, so let's hope they're cooking something good ^^

Nope. I expect what we're probably gonna get.

A story that is painfully safe, quests where you talk to someone who tells you to go talk to someone without any turbulence or shake-ups inbetween, the same overmilked companions we've had for over a decade, probably a new class with the same job philosophy as the other classes, limited voice acting in a game that prides itself on storytelling via cutscenes (Why only ESO bothers with including voice acting in every.single.quest despite being on life support will always be a mystery to me), linear dungeons where you can only go one direction and will be on autopilot until the last boss shows up.

Some homes are beyond saving, they have to be torn down and built anew. Until this game has its own Cataclysm or ARR 2, there is nothing more to expect.

I'm always happy to be proven wrong though

I don't think anyones expecting much from 8.0....

They might be demanding changes, but I don't think they actually expect them.

I can't speak for the majority but I seriously just want more replayability and content that do not require much organization outside of the game (mostly against chaotic and forked tower blood)

Big changes aren't needed.
SE just needs to roll back on track like they were before.
More content, less mog station items, more rewards in game. More voice acting, less chore quests. Job balance and job identity, no more 2 minute meta.

8.0 will define future of this game. Either it will be reborn and get back it's glory, or it will slowly dwindle down into maintenance mode from there. What will it be - it's now up to SE.

Pretty much. I think they know they cannot afford another blunder after how bad their subs have dropped.
I am seriously hoping they sit down, take a look at what was so successful years ago and then try to replicate that, as well as adapt to quality of life options other games are offering. The game needs fresh blood, not just the veterans to stay or return, and the new player experience currently is just not cutting it.

There's a lot of factors to be considered and I hope, for selfish reasons, that they catch themselves before they jump off the deep end entirely.
