There are people that will go on a reporting spree simply for the sake of getting others banned if it makes them feel better.

There are definitely people defending it with somewhat valid reasoning, like saying Mare isn’t the root issue. That’s fair. The real giveaway is the ones genuinely losing it. You can see the rage dripping from their posts. The examples I shared above aren’t far off from what some of them are actually saying. If your rhetoric doesn’t match any of those quotes, then there’s really nothing to be upset about here. You can clearly see from the pool of people defending it who was a user and who is just defending, just by the way they’re responding.

"Doesn't harm others" isn't exaclty accurate because Mare's structure had some glaring privacy risks which is likely one of a few reasons it got nuked.

I get your point and people do get warnings/bans if they harrass by mentioning it in game. Yoshida also mentioned about sharing modded characters and lewd images of characters a few years ago all over the Internet and instead of just keeping it to yourselves, players decide to share it in game too.

no two teams in world firsts got caught using and they simply ended up with temp bans. nothing more. It happened twice and both times is when SE and Yoshida needed to drop the hammer on third party software usage and they didn't. Why would people care at that point? If the director didn't care about people using third party software for stuff like that then why would they care about sharing mods? That my thoughts on it. Spin it however you want its both sides fault. Had they drop the hammer on those teams, people would keep quiet. Shoot third party tools / Cheating is so rampant in the game. They don't take action against the bots that sit under the aetherytes in the cities.

ACT more or less just reads your battle logs. Mare essentially had access to your full client information, ergo, it was probably deemed a bigger risk after other similar mods were nuked due to that reason.

ETA: Also a lot of FFLogs' information is pulled straight from Lodestone which is publicly available anyway.

Most of the convo about plugins really shouldn't be on the official forums tied to people's account- people are being very bold about it.

Also secondarily I'd like to just stop seeing both sides of this conversation. One side shouldn't be here for ToS reasons and my IQ is dropping from watching the boldness of these FF14 users, and the other crowd is cheering further hurting the dwindling sub 1-mil playerbase as if it's the cure to FF14's foundational issues... and all Yoshi-P needs to do is realize things are messed up and flip the "fix game" lever.

Just as I thought, I Knew U.K laws was part of the issue. Also unless players change their attitude in sharing their modded characters all over social media etc then they're going to come after the base mod too.
