End of the day it's their game and if they say they are going to ignore something it's up to them, ACT doesnt change the game and as they put it a calculator could do the same job. Straight after they said there is no grey area regarding MODSAye, which is why I'm not really surprised Mare got dinged in that context, as a lot of the people who used it were foolish and arrogant about its use, but it's hardly the only mod I'm aware of, it wasn't even the first that someone told me about as I heard about the zoom hack before I had even started playing FF14 via online articles and such discussing the debacle, which was arguably as well-spread in non-FF14 circles as the infamous billboard and its modded in data mined assets.
If Mare was but part of a total crackdown on all mods, I would get that completely and wouldn't even be wholly adverse because I don't use mods and thus have nothing to lose (though I suppose I'd feel bad for the people that were genuinely being quiet and harmless). But it wasn't, it was a very specific and in some ways very odd choice given that every single mod that people used with Mare is still active, or how things like "too public" or "was making money" isn't unique to Mare either.
It's just confusing and frustrating is all because there should still be mods being tossed into graves over here, but there's been nothing else ...so far.
Possibly because no one really gives a (insert whatever here) if they get banned? I know i don't. I, and many others, dang sure are not here for the game. We here for the social and customization aspects. *coughs* At least thats what i would be saying... IF I was one of them that used Mare..![]()
My main loss is friends who are going to stop playing, and going elsewhere.
Losing friends will just convince me to not play anymore either, and going along with them to other places.
If you think "good riddance", good for you, I suppose you must be fun at parties.
There are plenty of other games out there, sure.
If you don't want the subscription money, or the money to unlock new emotes and outfits, that's great.
These people were the easiest to appease: just don't enforce TOS that strictly. They didn't care about new content, new raids, new story, new anything. The game was just a framework for other stuff for them.
Did these people break TOS? For sure, they did. They're not complaining that it's being enforced. Most of them aren't. From what I could tell they knew that moment would come sooner or later, so most of them just shrugged and moved on already.

Man, I had so many friends leave when housing changes got pushed up to a later date, but they'd still log in every now and then to enjoy the community content which was driven in large part by syncing addons like Mare. With that gone, plus 7.3 delivering basically nothing, I'm about to log in tomorrow (my day off) to a pretty grim friends list. CWLSes been dead. FCs basically aren't a thing thanks to submarines and easy houses pulling everyone out of community groups and into the solo fc meta, myself included. But I digress. My point is there were already so many indications that people from all branches of this game were walking away. This just provided another quitting moment for a large segment of people, assuming they don't just fire up a replacement soon. You can be outside of that group and still be upset because you're watching even more of your friends quit in real time because square can't help but shoot themselves in the foot over and over again. Like somebody else said, that crowd was the easiest to appease: just leave them alone. But nope, the one area where people would've been happier if you'd done nothing, you had to go and do too much. Meanwhile, in areas where we wish you would do something, all we get are delays and excuses.
I wonder what do you mean by that. It has existed for 3 years and nearly everybody knew about it, so you can be sure CB3 and SE knew about it for a very long time. These people were the easiest to appease: just don't enforce TOS that strictly.
We don't know why they decided to act now, but their is a multitude of reasons possible, maybe some other company weren't happy with mods using their own content, maybe they decided enough was enough with modders litterally saying in official forum "Doesn't matter, they won't do anything to us, we are untouchable". Maybe there was security concerns and to prevent a potential drama, with the risk of complaints coming with it - legal ones included.
3 years of relative liberty for something they repeated again and again "don't do it because if one day we act, you will be disappointed about it", it's not what I would call "strictly". Look at Nintendo that are attacking people for using their intellectual properties, even if it's a 13 years old boy that did a stream on a romhack with 3 viewers to see what "strictly" mean for Japanese company.
I'm pretty sure they do. The last thing you want to have all that progress thrown away because they decided to mod. People pretend they don't care, when they actually do.Possibly because no one really gives a (insert whatever here) if they get banned? I know i don't. I, and many others, dang sure are not here for the game. We here for the social and customization aspects. *coughs* At least thats what i would be saying... IF I was one of them that used Mare..

Always been like this. Legit the only way to constantly be surrounded by modbeasts is to actively look for them.At first I was worried about how much the mare users would clog up the forums, but I've gotta be honest, I'm really really impressed with how much spam the anti-mare people are vomiting onto the forums. Y'all easily out-post the mare users, probably because you're still playing the game ig, but still. Are we really making ANOTHER thread about this? This isn't even a productive topic of discussion. It's just you gloating about how much better you are than other people. Homie, we pay to play A WEEB MMO that barely releases content. We're ALL losers.
i doubt many got actually got suspended for admitting it on here though
