Who said i was reporting anyone? I ain't no snitch
I said they're self reporting themselves to Square Enix, who is most likely reading all the threads about this.
You a really giving of this Aura, like the nerdy kid in school. "well, Actually they are all self reporting..."

Start a witch hunt over it then if you are feeling so zealous about it. Trying to call out people here.So many of you are treating the forums like a confessional booth right now. Playing the victim like YoshiP personally stole your pookie bear and now you can’t goon. It’s actually peak entertainment watching it all unfold---- but it kinda gets to a point...
"How dare they attack the community like this?"
"How dare they take down this mod (that’s literally against the ToS) and shut down player creativity?! I’m unsubbing!!"
"I know how we'll show them, lets REVIEW BOMB!!!" are we fr rn
Ok, that's a self report.
Posting about how mad this makes you feel isn’t helping your case. It’s just drawing attention to the fact that YOU were using a mod that breaks the rules. It’s not that deep. If losing a ToS-breaking mod frustrates you this much, there are plenty of other games out there to enjoy.
Edit: I'm not reporting any of these players, they're practically reporting themselves with their reaction is what i mean.. by self reporting
I mean, it seems consistent. No other mods in the game advertised as much or created a security hole in their program like Mare. (Yes, sharing your unique account identifier is a security risk on Square's end, why they chose money as the reason for the C&D is beyond me, security of the app should have sufficed )
If the C&D became a legal matter, e.g., not just a precursor to actual legal action... Then citing money would probably be a far easier legal claim than security, and would be far less risk... As the unique identifier, how they've seemingly implemented it could border on being completely negligent.I mean, it seems consistent. Maybe, but tech companies use security of their property all the time and win suits, even ones they shouldn't, like digital locks, but that's a different can of worms. If the C&D became a legal matter, e.g., not just a precursor to actual legal action... They do, and it is always a gamble, as there are just as many companies that cite security and lose, even when they probably should win the case.
Given that we're referring to the account ID, it's a massive can of worms in itself, and probably just not something they would want to risk, if they can build a good enough foundation on money, e.g., given it acts as a sync.
I get your point and people do get warnings/bans if they harrass by mentioning it in game. Yoshida also mentioned about sharing modded characters and lewd images of characters a few years ago all over the Internet and instead of just keeping it to yourselves, players decide to share it in game too. That doesn't make other mods any less guilty of breaking the ToS, causing PR issues, or profiting though. Mare simply being "more advertised" just means Square-Enix is allowing other mods to slip through the cracks, some blatantly so.
Hell, there's a website (FFLogs) that quite literally showcases all of the information it gathers via a mod (ACT). It's hardly a well kept secret, breeds its own brand of toxicity within the game (including the "exclusion" a lot of anti-Mare people cite as valid justification to kill a mod), and yet there's no C&D to be found against the mod or the website despite breaking all of the same rules, including "first rule of Fight Club" as people have quoted against Mare.
