No they do not need to Simplify Jobs in what world do jobs need to be simplified? They've been simplified so much to absurd levels no way can anyone be serious saying they need to simplify jobs further.

Jobs can have less skills and be more complex by the way, the amount of abilities doesn't automatically mean how complicated a job is. A actual good way to do this is add depth to skills, add chance and randomness to rotations, let jobs feel different.

The only bloat I see is mitigation bloat on tanks and heal bloat on healers both roles need less free value skills, Healers should have the complexity that if they run out of resources (which should happen) they need to spend gcds healing while keeping up their damage procs and skills, Tanks need less random mitigation skills that all do the same thing (raise your defence and like heal) rather having a self mitigations, party utility ect. While keeping up a actual fun rotation that isn't bland spam 1, 2, 3 and burst.

    Speak for yourself.

I'm a seasoned non-hardcore player, mostly a casual lately and would appreciate a simpler experience.

I have many cool games to play and FFXIV is losing terrain so instead of making it more difficult they could make it more fun.

It’s not like the jobs and content being way too easy went like EW’s most common battle design complaint or anything

As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

I do remember him saying this in a liveletter that they would be focusing on job identity alot more. It might have been 6.5 liveletter are one of the dawntail specific ones.
Not job balance, but the identity. But it was a translation so it could have been taken out of context as well.

I do think they will be focusing more on making job identity matter in some way and maybe with a level cap of 100 they can do that with job mastery of some kind.

OPs post sounds like a relatively realistic and grounded wishlist.

But this isn't, like, Pokemon or something, where leaks are frequent and often true enough times that you kind of need to consider things. I mean, our dumbasses were convinced Forspoken was the title for 6.0 for a minute. I would be content of OP is correct, but I don't think they are correct.

That may be part of the wider arc but it's not like right this second we know how to work the Key. We could go to Meracydia either just to continue Emet's list or as part of the path to learning how to work the Key and gain the ability to go to new shards.

we both know in 2 patches y'shtola will know how it works. plus we dont *need* the key to go to new shards we need the key to merge them, i wont say its impossible to have a meracydia expansion but nothing besides something said during endwalker to go off of when we have had 2 post content expansions hinting at shard travel makes more sense.

If I remember my lore correctly, there is a massive void gate in Mericydia and with the key to stabilize it, could be used to go to all of the shards. Going to the continent down under is also supported by the fact that quite a few developers went there for R&D, taking lots of photos several years ago.

I expect the first half of 8.0 goes down to Mericydia and the second part to the 13th to stabilize it like the 1st. After that, future expansions take place on the remaining shards until they all collapse sometime in 10.0.

i will say before dawntrail/base dawntrail i was thinking it would be a void only expansion, now i am torn between if they would do a 1 thing expansion like that but with maybe the 9th or maybe a split between 1st/void, i will also be happy with a brand new shard not related to any talked about so far.

course if i am honest with the recent end of patch 7.3 i kinda suspect it may be partially the 9th since we know about it, there is already a strong connection to it, the big bad of that world isnt gone both bad guy and ascian wise plus its fully broken still unlike the void or the 1st but we will have to wait til fan fest to truely find out.

since no matter how sure i feel about it, its still all speculation se can always curveball us.
