Woo boy, do I have some news for you.
If you check Garland Tools, you'll see this is only the start of multiple upcoming cash shop exclusive clothing and hair.
My husband, who’s playing since 2013, told me the cash shop was also wanted for fantasia, because before the shop, you were given a strict number of those. So, if you messed up with a change on your character, you were done for it. (He remembers asking a GM to send a fantasia to him after he changed something on his midlander and was regretting that change. He got it, by the way.)
Somehow i doubt that, it's more like wow popularized the mount monetization in mmos and they just copied itPersonally, I'd rather everything be obtained in-game, and once upon a time, it was like that.
Unfortunately, the playerbase wasn't happy with that.
Back in 2013~2014 people were begging day-in and day-out, on these very forums, for a cash shop, so they could spend real money to buy in-game stuff.
Yoshi-P granted the community's wish, and here we are.
If dumb players thought that was the only way to get old event items btw, they deserve to be milked like cows
every other mmo has old event items added to a vendor you can buy stuff from with currency by participating in the event's minigames, rather than spend 10 minutes on a quest each year, or buy everything else for absurd prices on the store
One can make the same claim about those falling for scams from alleged Nigerian princes, but that doesn't alter the fact it's a scam.Somehow i doubt that, it's more like wow popularized the mount monetization in mmos and they just copied it

It was pretty much like when I mentioned on the last page, after Catwho stated they were only asking for event items and not "$25 mounts"Somehow i doubt that, it's more like wow popularized the mount monetization in mmos and they just copied it

People were begging for a cash shop for all sorts of reasons: old event items, "namingway" (method to change names), fantasia, clothing NPCs were wearing (like the scions), and etc.
Sure, there were plenty of us also arguing against it, like MsMisato mentioned. I spent a lot of time in those threads myself arguing about the absurdity of a cash shop in a game charging a subscription, because the stuff should be obtainable or earnable the game we're paying a monthy fee to play. Of course we went unheard and the rest is history.

I guess they are feeling the burn with all the free Fantasia they have been giving us
Judging by the sheer number of cats I've seen since yesterday, plenty of people were happy to be "scammed" by this mount.
So some stuff was datamined and people are already complaining because of speculation that they'll be mogstation items?
SE's primary objective is clearly to make more money, not drive player engagement.
