Woo boy, do I have some news for you.
If you check Garland Tools, you'll see this is only the start of multiple upcoming cash shop exclusive clothing and hair.
yeah the playerbase asked for it. true... the very same people who want the opposite now.
every single person inside the community wanted it. they wanted a cash shop and also easier jobs... and the community still consists to 100% of these people. true true.
and also... how terrible to change your mind after all these years.

Cant wait for them to add the upcoming FFT glams as coffers for the Ivalice raids![]()

It was pretty much like when I mentioned on the last page, after Catwho stated they were only asking for event items and not "$25 mounts"Somehow i doubt that, it's more like wow popularized the mount monetization in mmos and they just copied it
If dumb players thought that was the only way to get old event items btw, they deserve to be milked like cows
every other mmo has old event items added to a vendor you can buy stuff from with currency by participating in the event's minigames, rather than spend 10 minutes on a quest each year, or buy everything else for absurd prices on the store
People were begging for a cash shop for all sorts of reasons: old event items, "namingway" (method to change names), fantasia, clothing NPCs were wearing (like the scions), and etc.
Sure, there were plenty of us also arguing against it, like MsMisato mentioned. I spent a lot of time in those threads myself arguing about the absurdity of a cash shop in a game charging a subscription, because the stuff should be obtainable or earnable the game we're paying a monthy fee to play. Of course we went unheard and the rest is history.

I guess they are feeling the burn with all the free Fantasia they have been giving us

Judging by the sheer number of cats I've seen since yesterday, plenty of people were happy to be "scammed" by this mount.

SE's primary objective is clearly to make more money, not drive player engagement.
When a game is dying, more cash shop items appear and they haven't been appearing this fast ever until yawntral appeared. Devs want quick bucks and it works. They can sell one item at the time at cost of 20 euros and it will work. The new "cat" mount was already bought by many players because they know they won't be able to resist to swipe their cards. Then those same players will sit afk in iddlyshire or somewhere with their cat mounts to show off how good and well behaved customer they are. Meanwhile, they sit afk because they know that this game has no content lmao.
What an irony. They won't do anything better with the game, it will stay this stale and they want to do minimum changes as it seems that community loves it. As long as they get subscribes from housing, erp fans and shop selling thing, they will endorse it.
People always come back when new patch comes but after 2-3 weeks you again see a steady decline. They are fine with lower amount of people as long as whales exist who will spend money.
