More Mog Station Items? Seriously?

These items were never intended to be in game in the first place as the main development team doesn't work on the cash shop. As has always been, and will always be, the case.
If the shop didn't exist, their positions wouldn't exist and nor would the exclusive sets we see there. The most they really 'do' with the main game is tell YoshiP and the actual item team what their plans are so they don't conflict.

The really only indefensible thing is that NPC outfits, hairstyles, past events items, mounts of previous in game things, etc. get put on the shop when they absolutely should be in game rewards.
The unique things made by the cash shops item production team, however? Its whatever to me. I don't feel people should get mad over the fact a premium item that was made by a team that isn't even directly working on the game and its patches is sold for money.

Its kind of a nothing-burger when you know how the shop is set-up, funded, staffed, and has been run since its introduction in 2.4X
One could make the argument that they should just close the shop and bring those staff members onto the main team, but then we'd sacrifice concerts, infrastructure updates, fanfests, etc. as those are the things the shop funds.

I have a lovely bridge to sell anyone who actually believes this.

Modern consumers seem to be very bad in general at banding together and exercising their power to change things. If people didn't buy this overpriced junk they'd have closed it down and stopped making things for it eight years ago, but instead the greed is just reinforced by constant purchasing. It's the same thing with $80 games, gacha/loot boxes, battle passes, limited collaborations, etc.

You like the cat? I think it looks odd and out of place.
It looks to me like it's got more details and fur than any other animal mount in game, and clashes with the environment.

If you want less cash items, stop buying from the mog station. It's the only way to make a statement.

I bought it in memory of Tango who passed away almost a year ago (Aug. 13, 2024) so it was money well spent in my case being really personal. It's adorable and the emotes are cute too, I just wish they allowed you to change their colors so I could change it to orange like Tango was. I do wish this was earned in game and hopefully they release different variants in the future but it's doubtful. I also understand this won't be for everyone but I just had to get it in memory of Tango.

Honestly, if I could make this cat beige and remove an eye so it looked like my 17 year old cat, I'd probably buy it too.
Luckily for me, all cat minions/mounts tend to have two eyes, and thus my wallet protected. Can't get me on that cat love tax.

But memeing aside. It looks uncanny valley to me, it doesn't look like it even belongs in this game. It looks like it's photoshopped in, like the character models are lagging behind

OP, wait until you see the next outfits they have lined up for mog station for the rest of the year (there are several). FFXIV is a cash shop game just like Fortnite except more expensive and with less content. Even WoW isn’t this bad, and everyone hates WoW for it.

Good thing most people have ways of “getting around it”. Even mounts, by the way! And no other MMO besides FFXIV lets you do that.

Back in 2013~2014 people were begging day-in and day-out, on these very forums, for a cash shop, so they could spend real money to buy in-game stuff.

It was most likely outsourced, like all things Square Enix does these days.

They are probably bringing this up because of the datamined items that are very likely mogstation only.
