If someone's developing "anxiety" over a role in a video game, then they need to find themselves some real issues.
But you enjoy that conspiracy plot you built all on your own.

This comment is awfully unempathetic. Some people feel very nervous when they perceive the success or failure of the party primarily rests on their shoulders (and the possible consequences/thoughts their party may have if a bad performance on their behalf leads to a wipe), and this nervousness can lead them to be unable to take the right decisions when needed or react in time to emergencies/mechanics, which only intensifies their anxiety around the job/role. I'm not saying you need to baby them, but the concept isn't hard to understand.
I spent a good while encouraging a close friend of mine to try tanking as a DPS main and I'm happy to say he's made great progress and feels much more comfortable now, but those first few duties were rough for him because he thought people were judging him way harder than anyone really was. Once he understood his duties and had a bit of practice, he felt much better! Now I am encouraging him to try healer as well, in my plot to make all of my friends into the ultimate flex gang :3c
What I mean by all of this is "tankxiety" and "healxiety", as people like to jokingly call them, is very much real, and saying it's not is plain dismissive. People can have serious problems to worry about IRL and also feel nervous about the consequences of failure in a co-op videogame.
For anyone who may read this in the future and struggles with trying a new role, you'll be ok!you got this! We've all messed up, and messed up real bad before. No one died, lost a good friend or got shunned over it. As long as you're trying your best and being open to feedback, you'll learn in time.

Coming from someone that once had said anxiety, you will get to a point that you will look back and think of how silly it was to be so upset and anxious about said roles.
Probably has something to do with age too.
This doesn't come from lack of empathy, it comes from learning that no one is forced to play around you and your feelings.
