Sorry to burst your bubble, but it will be. The new "trailer" is the new opening cinematic for FFXIV 2.0. Considering the current opening cinematic is also CGI...

Maybe they'll pull off what Ninten did on Zelda's 25th Anni.? Have a Musical Orchestra playing FF music =).

You've never heard of "Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy"? They've been doing concerts for years.

Besides CGI cut scenes, it would be great if they show some gameplay running on the 2.0 client, and some large scale battles to show of combat as well.

And where exactly is SE going to fit an orchestra into the middle of a convention center? Given the size of their booth last year a full orchestra would have taken up about half of the space

They can fit if you cast "float" on them!!!! then they can hover above the crowd serenading them with "One Winged Angel"

You never know.. desperate times for desperate measures.. and its a Milestone for FF so don't sell it short.

They will probably do the following:

1) Tell the Crowd they are deeply sorry for How FFXIV came out
2) Show all In-Game Improvements Currently in the game now
3) Show CGI Trailer ( with possible In-Game Battles)

It's always when people ask for a source when you can't find the info <.<; I promise I saw it referred to as opening cinematic somewhere though!

Also I agree, E3 is the time to bring in the big guns, which is why they're launching the new 2.0 promo site which will have the game play videos people will want to see.

Yoshida Naoki: Visual Works, the company that makes the trailers and movies for SQUARE ENIX, is actually working on new movie trailers for FINAL FANTASY XIV, we should be able to show that to the public at E3. But about touching the game… I’m being quite cautious this time, I really want to make sure that the user interface is perfect and comfortable to show to the public, so E3 2012 may be too early, but probably we can show screenshots at that time. We will do our best to distribute information. So please, look forward to it.

Yoshida Naoki: We will do our best, we can’t make any promise. But we will do our best to show gameplay movies to the public. Personally, I don’t like CGI-only movies. I want to show the gameplay, so we will do our best!

Also in the Famitsu Interview when he announced 2.0 they commented (but it was a comment by the publisher not Yoshida) that the trailer would be the new Opening cinematic done for 2.0.

New Opening Movie
The new Opening movie made for the New FFXIV is planned to be released at 2012 E3 (Short term for Electronic Entertainment Expo presented at Los Angeles, USA)

However having said that Yoshida made a comment fairly recently that said gameplay video would be seen at E3, so it looks like we should be getting both.
