just a little bump because I still wants devs to see this.

I've had a thread going on the same issue for years but no changes so far.![]()
Bumping and praying this thread doesn't derail again. I generally find genderlocked gear to be a big step back for a game that I thought was embracing gender fluidity and freedom in its glams, but it's egregious in this case because it is a cosplay piece. Though I fear until a big thread on this topic makes waves in the JP forum we may be shouting into the void.
I just hope to see the genderlock removed on the Final Fantasy XIII gear too, since it still exists for Lightning and Snow attire.

Good luck with that, this complaint is literally an american/EU thing only, no one on JP cares about this if you look at their forums. Hopefully it stays as it is and people push for SE to actually fix the game and its issues instead of this.
I did not even play Genshin xd
I just said what players all over the world prefer most of the time to play in games. And they prefer pretty boys and pretty girls. In FF14 we have pretty girls, but no pretty boys.
And I said that this more elegant and filigree glamour designs (that CBU seems to like to design more often) just don't look that good on all the more bulky and tall male character models.
And I guess THAT's why they often genderlock stuff.
It would look better on, lets say: the anime hero type. Slim and/or small and/or elegant. No wide shoulders, no stiff poses or emotes.
(btw..., also not all men irl have wide shoulders) But this type does not exist in his game. :')
I feel like the male character designs in FFXIV tend to lean more toward stylized, Ken doll-like appearances rather than portraying realistic male figures x3

Considering they have un-locked some previous NPC outfits and event rewards in recent patches, I think there's hope, even if it's behind the queue of some other projects.I've had a thread going on the same issue for years but no changes so far.
As for this forum vs the JP forum, there are people asking for it in their general request threads with significant likes/upvotes, it just isn't an ask that stimulates a lot of counter-arguments. As much as english users feel "they only listen to JP forums," the reverse sentiment also exists, and there are lots of disappointed posts on english social media/reddit/etc. The high demand vs relatively small ask might get a result in this case, but who can say.
Oh look, it's you.
Anyways, they can fix game issues and genderunlock gear. It's likely not the same exact people on the tasks. It's silly to think a thing that would require 3D modelling would take away from the coding.
I think so too, but to be clear my thread is specifically about items that change appearance based on what gender equips them which is a bit trickier of an issue than items that are separate to begin with.
I actually like those generic pants and I wish my character could wear them. And genderlocking is buttcheeks anyway. Sometimes I prefer the "masculine" version more.
