As a WoW player I can tell you that yeah... That happens. Does suck. But, play what you want, eventually you'll find a group and be able to prove prople wrong with your logs.

And i begged so much...
Anyone not using utilizing buffs and aligning 2 minutes in Savage is quite literally throwing. You don't have to be a top parser for that to matter at all and not using buffs properly can mean the difference between dying to enrage and a clear. The DPS check in M6S is really really really tight, so I can't fault people for wanting a bard or a dancer for the buffs instead of just hoping that the Machinist is so cracked that he makes up for the raid damage loss singlehandedly.
If you got to M6S on day 1, then you likely know how to sync up 2 minute bursts and how to hit buttons. So yes, buffs are indeed extremely relevant to those players.
I am surprised OP apparently got blocked from the last tier cause there wasn't really a lack of machinists when I did the tier. Felt like every party had a machinist and the dps checks weren't very tight and I get the frustration for this tier. It's not fun when your job is unwanted. If Gunbreaker were to suddenly suck for a tier and it got blocked I would also be very annoyed.
Some people think going in with the absolute best gear and highest DPS jobs would ensure success in clearing the fight when what truly matters is skill and how well you know the fight. Even though I've cleared the fight many times, I remember seeing so many ilvl 730 learning parties for Chaotic being constantly advertised by the same people that I was simply too low to join since I never did savage.
Yeah, it's sad that people use the poor state of ranged DPS as an excuse to exclude them from groups, but if they can't do the mechanics, it doesn't matter what they're playing.
Generally I think it's because of the stigmatization of raid buffs and the 2m Window. MCH has to work double-time to actually meet their damage compared to the likes of other jobs that actually have the damage that MCH should have. The other selfish jobs have potencies to accentuate their damage under raid buffs. MCH doesn't. It doesn't make sense for MCH's job design because three different abilities are effed, and it doesn't make sense in the current state of XIV.
MCH HAS TO CHANGE.
Come take out your frustrations in Frontlines by stacking the new role action Bravery with their LB, Marksman's Spite (fitting name) on your meta jobs of choice.
Pleae give MCH walking casts like it does in PVP, and allow it to compete with BLM. Seeing how the current savage tier panned out, the cast times would not be a problem. Give BRD walking casts as well.
MCH needs a 5% raid buff, and the rest can be adjusted in 8.0. SE has decided to beat a dead horse by reintroducing AoE in Savage. They haven't bothered balancing AoE for years, and the worst Physical Ranged pick for single-target scenarios turns out to have the worst AoE damage, where damage should scale exponentially.
That said, a good MCH can easily clear M6S. It's still a second-floor fight, and most of the problems come from players not knowing what to target or simply not dealing enough damage. If people can't meet damage checks with a 5 to 10 item level advantage over a Savage fight, no DNC or BRD is going to save them.
100000000000% agree. It's so annoying to see some of my friends be hard locked on content because of a job they play. I have BLM friends who've been locked out of FRU because of the insufferably OP pct before the needed nerf changes, and I have MCH friends getting the abyssos slap in the face again, if not still getting it (not sure if anabaseios was giving MCH mains the abyssos slap, but I know FRU they were getting it in favour of brd & dnc). It's such disgusting behaviour to see from people who job lock in their PFs or recruitments
Is DNC just doing better in M6S because of VPR, or is their personal dps during that add phase better too? I kinda expected it to be worse off since the strat seems to be to have ranged bait the mantas and DNC's aoe combo's a point blank, while MCH has quite a few long range targeted aoes that they buffed the falloff damage on
