    i doubt they will make such drastic changes after 2.0. But at least after they fix the game we can look forward to expansion packs with new areas.

    ..As significant as these places are, they should be housed in real buildings rather than another menu option at the market wards.

    Revamp the layout of Gridania
    - With trees large enough to support buildings, why is the entire city built into cracks in the ground? Gridania should be much more vertical and lofty - (Perhaps there is a good reason for it, but I haven't seen it in the storyline). We need more Eruyt Village and less Yhoator Jungle in Gridania's layout.

    Create Market Ward structures
    - Granted, it would still require zoning to enter.. but one of the most popular destinations in the city should have more than a simple gate/hole in the cliff/alleyway as it's representation.

    Upgrade guilds and create space for new ones - The Conjurer and Black Mage guilds need to be updated along with the confusing and obsolete lore surrounding the classes. In addition, it would be nice to see buildings or pathways that will open up for future guilds.

    Here is the thing though... "Wont be redesigned from the ground up" doesn't mean the cities wont see some major changes

    More NPC life... less pristine environments... new areas... all of this could fit into the "Not a complete redesign" concept

    I hope just because they aren't "redesigning" the entire city, that they can still add many new areas... Ul'dah, for instance, has tons and tons of room to go UP. Also all cities have tons of closed off... walled off, locked doors and invisible walled places that could be used that wouldn't require a complete rebuild

    I honestly never really considered a guild redesign to go along with the much needed mage lore changes... interesting

    You know, if they wwanted, they could make the merchant wards an actual area... Where you could see all three mercantile houses and the guild hall.... And they could do it without redesigning the city... so that long corridor you see at the market entrance would end up being enter-able

    Surprisingly enough... there are actual places in The Black Shroud, I think it's the northeast areas... where you are closer to the tops of trees than the ground... and if you look over the side in some places you see structures built into the trees... So they definitely had it in mind... more than likely they just couldn't figure out how to get it done

    Actually, it would be kind of interesting if there was large scale construction projects in each city from time to time. Certain places would be off limits and DoH/DoL could earn rewards by supplying materials to the project.

    Construction ends when the next patch hits, and the new section of the city, or building is open for business.

    Like other have said, they didn't say we wouldn't get some changes, just nothing like the overhauls we are getting for the outside zones. I mean the old zones are more or less getting changes from the ground up with new elements and in some cases completely changed structure (North Black Shroud becoming a normal forest with some open fields instead of the labyrinth it is now). We already know new structures are coming to some of the cities due to the art work (The Floating Coloseum on the outskirts of Limsa being one of them). My guess is they will tweak some of the layouts of the city to accommodate new content and new dynamics but the general look of the city will remain fairly unchanged. For instance they could open up parts of Gridania by demolishing some terrain, add new buildings and make it possible to go inside pre-existing buildings, but that doesn't mean they destroy the city and build a new one like they more or less are for the out door areas.

    funny you said that, i made a thread before to put visible construction sites up were new content is being made, i guess they would have to design it in construction mode which would take extra work...

    My DoL/DoH supply suggestion would be just like the current GC provisioning. I wouldn't want the devs to waste time on interactive construction sites...

    But yeah, restricted construction areas that give a hint about future expansion would be a very nifty addition.
