    I feel that saying the content is too complex for the average player, and running with that assumption to say it wouldn't make for a good roulette, is a bit insulting honestly. The core of the mode is that there's three mechs: with CC being good against players and mechs, Oppressors being used for structures, and BJs that can do everything but are ideally best used hitting structures as well. You have three different kinds of trains: gobbiejuice which provides full LB charge, gobtanks which cruise down the lane, and Main CE tank which gives each party 50 CE (the cost of using a mech, which is one per party.) There's also goblin mercenaries, which spawn on N/S platforms, and teams will fight over them. The winning team gets essentially a NPC hero unit to run down a lane.

    Is there more small nuances to the mode? Yes there is, but the core of it isn't that difficult for one to wrap their head around. Each FL map has its own small intricacies, yet new players are still able to wrap their heads around it. People making calls in a game, or pointing newer players towards guide resources also help. SE could even make a small tutorial that explains the mode, but that may be asking for more than a roulette would be.

    Would there be a rough patch as the larger community that hasn't interacted with RW much has to learn the game mode? Would more oppressors end up being used on players instead of structures? Yeah probably lol, but stuff like that is part of the learning process. Most people who queue up for a FL roulette want to play well and win, even if they're not the best players. I've personally found that giving them a little bit of guidance via shotcalls goes a long way, even during mogtomes. I don't see any reasons a RW roulette would play out differently, there would just be more of a learning curve for the average player. And that is better than the game-mode being largely abandoned outside of a) mogtomes and b) community organized pops, especially when dev resources continue to be put into it every expansion.

    Question: Why do we think SQEX hasn't tried a RW roulette?

    It's their standard method of shortening queue times and breathing life into old content.

    Isn't there still a guildhest roulette? (Or is that just challenge log?) That is completely useless to anyone not cheesing commendations.

    The only two possibilities I've thought of are:

    1. It would lengthen FL queue times.

    2. SQEX wants RW to die completely.

    If they let RW die completely, then we'd be missing all sorts of stuff. Rival Wings in general is a core part of the PvP Experience now(considering it's far better than the trash that's FL, let's be honest here) due to it just being 24v24 instead of the 24v24v24 setup.

    They should put a focus on it for Roulette because not only is one of the rarest, coolest titles in there(even at 1,000 wins), you also have both the objective-based gameplay of CC and the large-scale fighting of FL in there. It's the best of both worlds!

    1. FL pretty consistently has multiple games going at a time on Crystal, Aether, and Primal for most of the day. It'd be fine.

    2. Considering they continue to put dev resources into RW, (most recently with 7.1), that is clearly not the case.

    You yourself said that you don't play Rival Wings, so I'm struggling to understand why you're so quick to shoot down a roulette for the mode. How does it hurt you exactly if people get to enjoy non-frontlines modes of PvP more often?

    Not shooting down anything. Mostly pointing out the the FL roulette makes the matches demonstrably worse. I definitely think a RW is worth trying, provided it isn't rolled into a "PvP roulette" on the current cadence. Because that would mean I'd only play 1/2 instead of 2/3 the time.

    We're in agreement that a Rival Wings roulette/duty challenge should not be bundled together, but rather be separate categories. Especially with Secure coming back, that would be a pretty strange roulette where it's suddenly a different game mode once every five days. I think almost everyone advocating for a RW roulette wants it to be its own separate thing.

    My guess is if you had a daily RW roulette with the usual XP and tome bonuses, that quality would decline rapidly, but we won't know until it is tried.

    I guess it may be sufficiently confusing that even FL AFKers would avoid it.

    I won't lie, this seems very narrow-minded. AFAIK (correct me if I'm wrong), RW only lets you create a premade of 4 to queue into a match. Out of 24 players, I doubt one premade will turn the tide that heavily. Unlike FL, Rival Wings requires mechs and secondary objectives to win and more than it does zerging players against each other, as with FL, if you have a team with relatively decent knowledge of the game and a good commander making the right callouts your team can win.

    Even if 24 people were all premade squads of 4, the likelihood of all of them being on the same team is pretty low.
