The thing is that those white knights have harmed the game. They are ultimately the reason why FF14 is in this state. Ironically by defending the game so much, they have allowed it to sicken and decay. While we can ignore it at an individual level it's undeniable that these white knights have for far too long allowed tumors to grow and wounds to fester.

This is what happens when people deify the devs, the games story warns you against doing such things but is a victim of it itself
