More options for things to do aren't a bad thing. I don't know how long you've been running the tome events but the Mogpendium and those different types of challenges are fairly new. They already include treasure maps as part of challenges so it makes sense if one option was field content. It wasn't too long ago that it was all just straight dungeons/raids/trials, and their challenges focusing on either other adventuring content or non-adventuring content has been quite popular.
Also, even vets sometimes don't have everything. Mogtomes give a temporary alternative to farming something. And that can be welcome for something like a stubborn extreme. Both Hades and Elidibus have had some rotten drop rates when I was farming recently to help out some friends. There's also usually at least one reward that comes from Ishgard Restoration, so those who don't really enjoy crafting have a way to get that for a short time. Mogtome only lasts a month, so the incentive to do the normal content isn't gone forever. And they focus on old rewards because then they're not competing with current content. There is always at least one item that you can only get through the event as well. The current content in question :they're not competing with current content

The usual, "Swap around reward table and do no other change" event. And of COURSE time gate anything that has a chance of being remotely interesting. How about giving a huge list of actual tasks that a person can burn through in a day or take their time. Getting a person to do activities they normally wouldn't. Just off the top of my head.
- Reach maximum level on a job
- Do fates in Y zone.
- Complete an extreme trial
- Win triple triad matches.
- Visit lookout points.
- Complete S-Rank Hunts
- Do 12 custom deliveries.
- Compete in PVP activities.
But no, as usual anything remotely worth doing will be time gated and the standards so boring they not worth doing.

The problem is, that these grinds; more specifically rewards are more catered to very very new players, which is OK, but these grinds are really not worth it with experienced players, which most players here are... Like, there's 2 things on this list which I don't actually have, and most of it is going to resort to doing 1 dungeon ad nauseum, which if we're being honest isn't exactly new anyway, and as per other posts the grinds which may be more interesting or serve as a challenge is usually just an ultimog.

Not sure how much people expect from these types of "content lull" events that most MMOs have. They aren't meant to be extravagant new content. This at least has more rewards available than most games.
I don’t know many MMO’s that put out 1.5 hours of content per 5 months and call it a “patch”
I also don’t know many MMO’s that make their “lull events” basically doing the games most basic content for rewards that are already in the game and calling it an “event”
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
It’s giving trying to water a wilted plant with oil lol
You breeze through all of the end-game content in 1.5 hours?
Or are you referencing only the MSQ? Square Enix did put together 100+ MSQ quests over the course of the ARR patch cycle, and the resounding cry was to cut that to a minimum. Are you implying you want a return to the 20+ MSQ quests per patch cycle again?
