In other words, you don't even understand your own position. You are playing a video game, which is a business for SE. The reward structure is there to provide psychological enticement for players to join / engage and give SE money in the meantime. You are a customer, nothing more, nothing less. You can demand all day long, but it's the business that will have to make the balancing act of whichever group might bring in more money, the "I want it all for free" or the "it's a reward for playing" one. However, as an individual, YOU should start to properly reevaluate your priorities. Because rewards for completing combat content is and has always been a significant drive for this type of game genre, and if each release gets you in a zone of discomfort, you will have a pretty hard time down the road.

Dailies won't get you that sort of cash any time soon.
Crafting will. Crafting is casual content and can net 50m way faster than raiding or dailies.

You're right- that person to whom you're replying is a customer, but Square Enix runs things and they have apparently decided to make this hairstyle available to people outside of raiding. It's their game and they have decided that this hairstyle is not exclusively a raiding reward. It seems pretty entitled of you and others telling them that they can't make decisions like that.

Shoot back in ShB I used to make food and pots for sale and I stopped bc the prices were set so low that it wasn't even worth the sale of them. Not to mention that those who are in statics tend not to buy anything bc the odds are they have at least one person in the static that can craft stuff for the team. Doing savage and ultmates does not drain that much gil for you lol Unless you potting every single pull and if you are that so dumb XD You only pot when you going for the clear.
You can spend a bit of Gil on gear on the early stages of the patch tbh. You can expect to see prices between 15-20M, and this isn't including world prog players that usually buy an Ornate piece with Wondrous Tales either, which is quite a lot on its own. But I think the notion that casual players don't really have a spending outlet is the most ridiculous notion you can probably have, there's several directly high costing mounts, and then between cosmetics and any additional minions or mounts a player may buy, it really stacks up. I'm a casual but I can quite easily spend 100-200M per major patch.

A lot of hardcore crafting statics that do week 1 usually actually rely on external crafters to the static, it's a very common practice, as the gear is not really needed for most until the third turn, so it allows for prog whilst crafters are churning away. Some statics will organize a handful of crafters, and some others may turn around and say it's the individual members' responsibility to ensure they find a crafter. The amount of strays I find on the first day or two is a lot.

I think generally people underestimate just how expensive it can be if you collect mounts/minions/cosmetics. But frankly, the whole reception and generally how dismissive people have been on this unironically makes me wish the OG concealed/favor nodes would return, because you know, apparently too much in this game is handed off as a freebie, and apparently casual players have very little reason at all to purchase this gear.

Even the casual player should be able to amount sufficient gil to eventually purchase it if they are determined.

Or patient until it becomes within their money range. Whatever comes first.
This. I couldn't agree more. I consider myself casual and would rather craft, gather, farm, and see some returns, than to spend (read: waste) time on failed progging, while I could have been doing something fun. Not to mention how the hairstyle isn't a guaranteed reward either, so even if that progging would lead to a kill, enjoy mindlessly farming it until you have it. (This goes both ways of course, as what I consider wasting time here, a raider would call my content a waste of time.)

Now I'm not sure if this is a design philosophy to make high-end content more appealing to players, but if it is, it's really a delusional one. I am not going to get frustrated progging something for a hairstyle. I do something I think is fun, no matter what reward they put behind high-end content. I'll just spend my millions on it and see how far below gil-cap it'll set me. That way I do the content I enjoy, raiders do the content they enjoy, and we help each other in the process. (And thus, while I want it, I've come to terms I won't get the Axolotl mount until I can unsync it or have another way to obtain it. I think having a dynamic between the different ways people play the game more often would work a lot better as well.)

And like Kaurhz above me pointed out, even a casual can amass 100-200 million gil if they wanted to. I think the biggest issue here is people wanting free hand-outs, without doing anything in return. That will never work and it's never going to happen either.

My main point is that it wouldn't kill the devs two provide multiple ways of earning the same reward. And before you point out that the market board is a thing, not everyone has the appetite for mindlessly grinding out millions of gil for high demand items.

At the end of the day this is just another cheap and lazy way for the days to keep people hooked on their subscriptions without actually implementing any meaningful content.
So the content can have rewards but they can't be good rewards if the content is difficult? Absolutely diabolical take.

It's just weird to read this thread, with people being like "BUT I'M A PAYING CUSTOMER", like either you're trolling me, misrepresenting that complaint or something?

Like in any other game, if you can't get an ultimate weapon because the requirements demand you beat an optional boss that you, personally, aren't skilled or willing enough to beat, do you threaten to ask for a refund?

I think you're missing a huge point here though. Those weapons are just prestige and 9 out of 10 times casual players who enjoy glamouring more than raiding wouldn't even use those. They look fully out of context, don't match with most outfits, and most people who care about that hide their weapons anyway. Now character customization is a different thing entirely. It's part of character identity, being able to envision your character the way you want to, and something that you want to see. Comparing a hairstyle to a weapon is comparing apples and oranges, especially when you consider how awfully limited character customization in XIV is. There are B-tier mmorpgs who do a way better job at it, while XIV should be considered an A-tier mmorpg in my opinion.

So the content can have rewards as long as you personally don't like them?

Crafting is anything but casual. Casual crafting will net you not even close to that amount. Crafters have to invest into almost all their classes, stockpile and know what's needed.
And then the Marketboard war of undercutting starts.
If you don't babysit the Marketboard and try to sell in-demand stuff youll sell nothing as your prices wont hold for even half an hour.
