    Quite frankly, the "oops, we made the content more difficult than we wanted to, tee hee" worries me at this point. Does the director of the game not have enough control over the devs and designers to make sure the intended goal is hit?

    "make your own party!" is exactly the problem we have in our PFs, lets split the players even more... gatekeep for some ring or because i didnt want the tome item with absolute garbage stats.

    Even i was locked out of many ex trial parties cause i was at 725 while parties demanded 727, the difference in HP was less then what my food would give me lol

    The funny thing is, the gear dropped by this content should be the normal Alliance Raid gear. 8-man Savage has a terrible loot system, with some jobs needing 7 weeks to reach BiS. And if you get unlucky, you need at least 8 weeks for a weapon, even if you clear week 1. There was never any reason for normal Alliance gear to be 10 ilvls under Savage.

    It worries me because I simply don't believe it. Based on content release, this seems like a concerted effort to drive players into high-end content, and those who don't like it can "go play other games." What are they after? An Esports scene so they can gather at that dump in the Luxor?

    People can keep asserting that 14 is an "action combat MMORPG" to justify this current nonsense, but the bulk of the player-base has never engaged with 14 like that. Moving forward, that same player-base may choose not to engage with 14 at all.

    The design is really weird. A and C can kind of stay near each other but B gets all split up. It may have been better if there were 3 platforms and the towers were aligned around those, so alliances could stay in the same area while still coordinating for tower mechanics.

    And definitely support the idea of Alliance Unreal maybe being a better way to do this for their future experiments.

    Honestly, as much as I see where you are coming from, it feels different to me. I think its more likely that Yoshi-P has been spread too thin with all kinds of projects and responsibilities that he has no time to properly oversee the project that is FFXIV.
    I mean, before DT released, he claimed that CS3 went too far with job simplifications, and during DT, some jobs were simplified even more. To me, that's either lying or not having any control over your team. Not sure which would be worse, to be honest.

    Agreed, a wider variety is exactly what is needed, coupled with execution that isn't guaranteed to set of firestorms like we're seeing now.

    Bro how did I go to sleep and come back to a war about hardcore and casual players in this thread about how COD disappoints all players and should either fully commit to satisfying hardcore raiders or be more welcoming to new ones instead of being frustrating for both and with an awful reward design.

    Again, my initial complaint is that the fight was designed to be hard to learn and at a difficulty level above where new players would feel welcomed to try for a clear, but the reward design appeals more to new and casual players and punishes those who WANT to do the fight over and over again. My whole point is that Square is disappointing EVERYONE. They throw this content at raiders, but aren't listening to any of the other complaints on how long it takes for tiers to unlock, job balance, job design changes waiting until 8.0 etc which is what raiders actually care about. And they're icing out the casual players by scheduling the content release in a stupid way ON TOP of a slow patch cycle so they haven't had anything to do since expac release.

    Anyone who's in this thread yelling about how casuals always want to be catered to or how raiders are square's favourite child needs to calm down and realize that everyone who plays the game that PRIDES ITSELF on appealing to a wide variety of players with a wide variety of content deserves content that actually appeals to their demographic. It's on their literal homepage of how "Adventure is what you make of it!" Showing housing, social gameplay, crafting, glamour, fishing etc. Casual players shouldn't be expected to be interested in hardcore raiding. Hardcore raiders shouldn't be expected to be interested in casual grinds. If Square wants that to be this game's appeal, they need a better understanding of what each demographic ACTUALLY WANTS, and release that content on a schedule that keeps each demographic satisfied.

    Also, why the hell did someone bring up child predators? Like are you guys ok?
