Many people who suffer from social anxiety are attracted to MMOs. The fact they are socially anxious does not mean they dislike others. Frequently it's quite the reverse. They crave connection with other human beings, which is difficult to obtain IRL when social situations produce not only fear but in some cases profound physiological effects.

An MMO is for many such people a safer environment for the simple reason that if things get weird, there's an off switch. Getting on Discord voice with complete strangers is a very different experience from doing a DF dungeon.

Really shocked at such a callous attitude, particularly at this time of year.

First, you don't even have to say anything IF you are even getting on a voiced discord channel. The discords are for recruitment purposes of the content, not necessarily for voice comms itself when we are referring to BA DR and other such content.

Also, the issue isn't that someone has a social anxiety of any sort. It's that going from "This is Dying/Dead content -> "Well Recruit via Discord" -> "But my social anxiety" Is an overused excuse with XIV players. If you are so adverse to community driven content and goals, while having crippling social anxiety, than you shouldn't be complaining about the content you seemingly CANT do regardless. Clearly you don't want those drops enough then.

time for mine even tho I didn't complete I don't think it's that hard to understand the fight it itself do I think it does a bit to much damage yes not because of well mech bit because of the same point that came in.
24 player to coordinate is rough not matter what will I do it again probably not due to my odd schedule that is and well xmas time too!


I have my fun will I try in the future of course I will a part of me is sad that it isn't a full alliance raid tho and just a fight a part of me wanted something well more interesting maybe not unique but you know something else.

I'm really enjoying progging it in PF. I will agree it's probably a tad much if they're wanting to attract players who don't already do similar content. It can be very hard on the healers with the doom, even with the changes to Esuna. Someone mentioned 24 man Unreal and really when they first started talking about this, I thought that's what they were going to do. That could be fun, as people would see mechanics in places like CT again but at max level with our full kits. And it would draw in players who may not otherwise try this type of content.

PF is currently flooded with players who don't even do Extremes. So I feel like maybe the unlock should be locked behind EX3.

On one hand im glad that the raid is accessible to everyone. But on the other hand, its clear that more casual players are holding back the midcore players.

At least for this occasion I do believe they should tweak some things like 'adding 2-3 extra seconds the Doom counter and some casts like Blade of Darkness.

The raid is unlocked by speaking to the Wandering Minstrel (where all other Extremes are unlocked as well), and it's part of the "High-end Duty" category. The fact that the community behaves entitled like that is nothing that could ever be fixed by any game design. The sad reality is, that it really isn't that different from "normal" PF experience. It's an attitude problem of the "Western" part of the community, where being able to clear a mechanic 3 out of 4 times (unless of course it's the "cursed" pattern, which happens half the time), is regarded as "I have mastered this mechanic". This kind of behavior is already a problem in 8 man content, it's simply aggravated with 3 times that player count.

Social anxiety can get tremendously worse with a single negative encounter. It is not safe for mentally damaged individuals to engage with strangers on the internet who may explode on them over a silly mistake. These things do happen and people with anxiety know that, this is why they protect themselves from such situations. It has nothing to do with not "wanting" the rewards enough. It would be great if we didn't bully those people when they express their side of the story, thanks for understanding.

Funny, because you don't need discord to do this content either, but it definitely speeds up the process of finding a group versus sitting in PF for awhile. If you want to go the long way, you dont NEED discord, it just significantly saves you time in recruitment.



Ahh yes, the classic retort, complains content is dead or hard to recruit -> someone suggests joining active discords that still prog this content -> materialize the social anxiety answer.

If Discord, which really is just a time saver here, is such an inconvenience for you, then frankly you don't deserve any of the rewards. Let your anxiety roadblock you for as long as you let it. I will never get the social anxiety excuse, while playing a massive multiplayer online game which tends to have goals oriented around party play... talk about living an oxymoron.

Why not? I mean other than that you don't need it or want it? People have been asking for midcore content forever.

The entire reward structure tells that they WANT to have more people clear it.

Yeah, for a while now, they have been obsessed with completion rates. Remember when they proudly announced that EW relics had the best completion rate of any relics. Of course, they're given for free. And they were very badly recieved by the people that used to like farming relics.

The problem is that you're not gonna transform a non raider into a raider magically, but SE think they can. They're totally out of touch with the mmo public. They care only for metrics, and don't care for the reception by the players anymore. It's like everything they learned from 1.0 has been washed away. Watching the NoClip documentary about 1.0 has become so painful, since they seem to have forgotten any of the lessons they learned from that experience.

I would not be surprised if this chaotic raid blow up on them because they put the haircut, something that a lot of very casual players want, behind savage lvl content, which gonna frustrate the casuals, but also the raiders, because those players that don't have the skills will be a nightmare to deal with.

Worst of both world, as often with choice from the FFXIV team for the last 3/4 years. All because they cannot understand raiding scene is a niche in the mmo players, and they refuse to give any significant content for other players.

Haircut behind chaotic was a bad idea.
