No, you are correct. But the glamour dresser does already. Your inventory does already. Hell, it's no different than the achievement log painstakingly monitoring every single digit as you creep to 10,000 kills or 1,000 fates or whatever. It all ends up the same in the backend.

The whole 'data storage' problem is as simple as - a list of gear - 1 = they own, 0 = they don't own. Anyone thinking it's a legitimate concern is kidding themselves. They could implement this system in 3 months if they chose to. They're just too far down the rabbit hole with the current system to be honest that it could be different.
