Why do people always assume it is bad or spaghetti code?
Where was that ever said? I remember Yoshida saying that they are not hindered by spaghetti code anymore...
To me it seems more like a database structure issue. And I say that because I am facing the exact same issue on the software my company is working on (loading one item taking a couple milliseconds, loading 10 items taking 20 seconds due to a bad design choice where we did not expect there would ever be a need to query 10 items at once but the need appeared after a few years with a new feature request).
It is just pretty common in any software architecture (especially live service) to have some architectural oversights...with some being easier to address than others.
I don't know what kind of database technology they are using, but I can imagine that some of the problems could be linked to that.
And changing the DB technology on a software that is used by millions and saves tons of data per players is probably a challenge, so they probably have to find workarounds with their current tech...
Not trying to find them excuses, I think it's about time they fix the actual endgame. But still I don't think it is just "spaghetti code".

If they want to prove they're no longer hindered by bad code, revamp Limsa/Gridania/Ul'dah to be one large city each.

They are already wasting resources on a lot of things. That would be one of them.

To be honest, in theory and conceptually I like it, but I haven't really utilised this new function yet because the idea of individually removing all the pieces to just put them back in as a set, just sounds cumbersome at best. It's putting me off.

Guys, you only have to go to sleep in the inn and use the 'dreamfitting' feature. It's an accessible catalogue of all purchasable cash shop gear, instantly available to try on your avatar and to purchase. You can navigate, filter, all sorts. The system is there. If you have the money.

Technical debt is not an argument. 11 years since ARR. Multiple AAA games can be developed from scratch in that time. They can't even release a core system. It's just poor dev resource management, nothing more.

I have to blame it on the old code as well. It holds the game back tremendously. Its been over 2 years since EW and 4 years since SHB. They still havent fixed headgear. So they are doing the best they can with what they have. And its hard for them to hire new people given the criteria to be hired. Best we can hope for is an expansion of the current system and new hairstyle to be created for all races in mind.

If the Dreamfitting menu tracked your purchases and let you glamour the ones you own, you might have a point – but it doesn't do that.

As you say, it's a catalogue of all the cash shop gear. It doesn't need to know what you have and what it can or can't show you or allow you to apply to your gear; it just displays everything.

I do think it would be worthwhile to expand Dreamfitting into a catalogue of all gear that exists in the game so people can look up things like dungeon sets, but it would still be a separate function from the glamour dresser which tracks what you own and insert into it.

It would be nice if it had the functionality of both Dreamfitting and the Mogpendium… you could try on a piece of gear, then click a button to go to the dungeon it comes from in the Duty Finder.

Everyone already said the important points, but I feel like investing in something like a Glamour Catalogue will only benefit them as well. More people willing to grind content just to roll for gear and fill it up even if they don't necessarily think they'll wear it, more people that might buy mogstation gear just for the hell of it and their catalogue (the armoire is not enough, god I'm sick of the armoire), does this not sound like a big W for both sides? I'd go as far as to say I'd personally just keep subbing as long as I have more gear to grind without worrying about the shitty dresser system.
