Do triple cast or ED move you 20y in an instance, no they do not. Now if BLM Aetherial Manipulation which can move you 25y in an instance had damage tied to it. Then it would be like tank gap closers.

a possible fix is to have the gap closers do 1 dmg. capped at 1.

I think the point completely flew over your head.

The point being, the considerations behind are exactly the same: do you burn the skill to keep uptime even outside of your burst or damage, or do you keep it for better damage? Triplecast is literally the same tool as a gap closer but for caster, as it allows for mobility and uptime (which a melee gap closer also does instead of you walking all the way back to the boss twiddling your thumbs), but also generates more damage when used. ED is literally the healer making the choice to burn a resource on damage, a resource that could otherwise be used for healing.

Either way, I don't have a horse in this battle, and I actually have a pretty neutral opinion on whether uptime utility tools should be split from damage, or should on the contrary be kept within an opportunity/cost system.
