I unsubbed already due to lack of responsiveness to job feedback for multiple jobs, zero faith the patch story will be good, and to let SE know that DT is not acceptable. The game isn't worth the price at all anymore.

I don't even recognize this product as FF anymore to be completely honest outside moogles and chocobos occasionally showing up.

Going to try and not sound overdramatic, but here goes.

Final Fantasy XIV is a game I started playing during late Heavensward, and while I really enjoyed the story, I really fell in love with it during Stormblood for the gameplay. I met my SO on this game way back then and we're finally moving in together next month after years of trying to get to that point. And that's great.

What isn't great is that we haven't been enjoying the game much since Shadowbringers. During that time, my FC fell apart in an event that actually traumatized me, and I had to take a long break. Once Bozja hit, we basically just quit since I had lost my in-game house then. Fast forward to endwalker, we try again and although going through msq was fun, we once again took a long break until news of Dawntrail hit. This is when I finally got excited enough to play again after several old friends reached out to me.

Although that ended up going nowhere, playing the game was fun again, and I actually ended up making some new friends on light - and even lucked into a mansion. So we had a blast, all excited for Dawntrail. One thing that pissed me off though, is that the job design of Shadowbringers, which I hated as a former bard, was there and worse than ever. Then came Dawntrail, in which I was told "wait til 8.0" as if people hadn't been waiting since 5.0.

DT itself was just... Bizarre. Easily the worst msq in the game bar none. Events are still in the shitter. Cookie cutter design. Literally Endwalker 2.0 job design. So I'm struggling to enjoy it especially since I can't actually play with my new friends on the other DC.

Then they open it up again but not really, and I'm basically just being told to suck it up and deal with it. I started playing XI a bit in the free week they're doing right now and I got sick, so I've been away from the game for 10 days now and... I just don't miss it. I have nothing to miss. If I log in, all I will find is a dead pf, crystal tower raids, artificial time gating, hunt trains with annoyingly rude people all the damn time and job design that makes me wonder why the heck I'm even playing when a rudimentary script could probably play just as well.

There's nothing to enjoy for me anymore. They make it a point to kill everything I enjoy with every expansion.

Might resub for the ball and chain that is my house, might not. Yoshida's continued public showings make me skeptical about his words, because tbh... The man is out and about so much, when is he *actually* in the office? Does he even play his game anymore? Did he even see the state of msq? And finally, he's taken to blaming *us*, the community of his game, for everything we give negative feedback about, while saying that everything is too hard or too much work.

So yeah. I'm just tired, and honestly, I'm out for now. Screw this.

Still subbed but I've cancelled auto-renew.
Honestly Yoshi P's comments in interviews give me little faith that the MSQ will course correct in a way that makes me feel satisfied with the story. The raids are great and I might resub on the even numbered patches, but I'm not gonna let auto-demolish on houses keep me hostage.

I’m considering not renewing once my game time runs out in a month. It will depend on what they do with the character graphics. I’m waiting for the public statement they’ve promised on it in the character graphics thread. They said they’ve delayed to properly translate it.

I don’t think the game is in a great state right now. I’ve not played far into Dawntrail but the writing leaves me feeling unsatisfied with my characters motivations. There have been a lot of issues with the graphics update, including serious problems with DLSS and FSR. Very poor quality control and consistency with visual bugs and character mesh and texture changes. I’m also not confident they have a sustainable or strong vision for job design (encounter design has improved steadily though!)

For me though, I’m so demotivated that the appearance of my Miqo’te changed. I would look past everything else and keep playing happily if my character returned to looking the way I loved. I don’t want to lose the house I finally won recently, but if I unsub depends completely on how they handle the character appearance feedback. I hope they take it seriously. I think they took too lightly peoples attachment to the appearance of their characters of up to 10 years.

I have the Unsubscribe page open in another tab and I keep looking back at it and debating going through with it. I have never once cancelled my subscription in the years I've been playing. I never even felt the need to come to the forums until that first benchmark trailer for Dawntrail hit and both my character's faces were botched beyond belief. I made an account to document the changes and report on how unacceptable I found them. But even though the Endwalker patches bored me and I wasn't enjoying the story as much, I still stuck around because I was bringing an alt through the game and having a good time replaying the story and just doing social stuff with friends and gposing. I would still find myself logging in almost every day just to say hi to friends and look at my characters.

My characters are gone. Years of joy seeing them when I log in is gone. They have been replaced with strangers I don't recognize. It's been two months and they still look like strangers. I break down crying when I have to look at their new faces for an extended amount of time. These are the vessels through which I interact with the game world and whose stories I've love to weave over years of writing and artwork. Without them, there may as well be no Final Fantasy XIV to me.

That alone makes it difficult to continue to log in and play. And then I played through Dawntrail.

Nothing could have prepared me for how truly wretched this story is. I preordered and bought the collectors edition of Dawntrail, thinking, "they haven't let me down yet over four expansions, why would they now? I've always found something to love and things to keep me engaged. I'm happy with another Stormblood quality story, I liked that expansion just fine." How wrong I was. The development of FFXVI clearly hurt Endwalker (which should have been two expansions) and its patches by pulling staff away from XIV to work on it, and whatever TWO other titles Square Enix is ordering CS3 make now is absolutely strangling the life out of XIV. No one is at the helm of this ship anymore. What happened to quality assurance? Did no one seriously step up and say, "This isn't up to the standard we expect"? Where is the team that took XIV 1.0 and turned a trashfire into a successful game worth caring about and subscribing to? Gone, I guess, reassigned to other projects and departments, with no one qualified to take the helm of XIV.

I'm obligated to finish the raid tier with my static, and after that, I'm leaving. Until they SERIOUSLY address the problems with character models and show some actual evidence of fixing the faces and making amends for this insult of an MSQ, I'm done.

I unsubscribe all my family accounts except for one that has the fc and private house. I hoping they make the game enjoyable again and not so hardcore causes you to stress over it. If I had to rate this expansion, I would give it an F.

Ive decided to let my sub lapse and not auto renew.

The response to the viper changes was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Specifically it was the attitude that ticked me off more than anything. The "Oh we heard feedback from players saying they were happy, but we changed it anyways unrelated to feedback." It does not motivate me to want to keep playing and actively demotivates me from giving feedback.

And the whole glamour situation too. They keep saying role restrictions are important for glamour because they dont want a black mage in full plate. First of all, why not? (we already can). Second of all, multiple NPCs are shown to be wearing impossible outfits (archer wearing maiming gear in role quests for a very prominent example).

Not to mention the fact that more and more NPCs are shown having customization options that we as players are not allowed to have. Sure it makes sense for important NPCs to look unique, but when theres a horde of nameless background NPCs that are shown having hair colors we cant have? Its insulting to me.

I can easily ignore the bad story, but Its hard to ignore this. And at the end of the day, im just not having fun anymore.

There's literally nothing to do if you don't care about raiding. Granted, it's always like this. But for whatever reason, it is sticking out more now. It's probably because the story sucked so I'm not looking forward to more.

As someone who enjoy midcore content more than high end raiding,

I was always having fun in previos expansion for these reasons:
1- excited for new jobs and changes to current changes.
2- extreme, unreal and bozja content.
3- story.

first one is just at worst state
second one we still waiting for unreal and bozja-like content
third one is idk exist
