It may or may not have something to do with the fact that 70% of voicelines in this xpac are said by a certain character this VA is playing. No one has yet to explain why the voice actor is the only one getting most criticisms, and yet no other voice actor is being targeted, including the international voice actors of Wuk. In Japan, they absolutely hate Wuk but they do not bash the japanese voice actor. It does not help that he is inciting conflict on social media as I stated previously. He brought this onto himself. It would be one thing if he was either silent on social media or had some good will behind him. But we all see his tweets. He is a drama queen pure and simple. Let him bathe in the water he made.
This is what makes it hard to ignore. If Ms. Bryer had voiced a minor character, it could have been easily overlooked. But we spend so much time with Wuk Lamat that the character annoyed some of us. Add low quality voice acting to that and it just frustrates people more. If Ms. Shimoyamada had done a poor job, she would gain people's criticism too. (Mind you, there are a few on the JP side that said her voice acting was fairly boring/ typical).
However, that doesn't mean she should be attacked on a personal level. Yes, I will agree she's not... the best human being if we're going by her twitter, but it's better to try and separate her work from the personal side. (Though this seems to be a western VA problem, where they over share their personal life whereas JP VAs tend to be more quiet.)
I'm probably about to peak someone's ire, but I didn't like Mr. Ono's voice acting for Zoraal Ja. During his last few scenes the voice fell flat for me. It took me out of the moment, but Zoraal Ja barely speaks. So I could overlook it.
May the stars light thy way.
